pppoe and /etc/shorewall/interfaces
...oint-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) or Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) in which case the External Interface will be a ppp interface (e.g., ppp0). If you connect via a regular modem, your External Interface will also be ppp0. If you connect via ISDN, your external interface will be ippp0. If your external interface is ppp0 or ippp0 then you will want to set CLAMPMSS=yes in /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf. -------- unquote -------------------------------------- The point I am confused about is this: If my DSL isp (SBC) uses pppoe for connection, what do I put in /etc/shorewall...

ssh startup fails
Hello all :) While trying to bind to 0.0.0.0 having lo0, eth0 and ippp0 up no matter whether on- or offline, i get this: sshd[4518]: error: getnameinfo failed sshd[4518]: fatal: Cannot bind any address. It seems sshd tries to get reverse-resolved the ippp0's address. Is there a configuraiotn fault on my behalf? Did i misunderstand the way sshd works? Shouldn'...

ISDN on CentOS
...PAE). Two questions: 1. for which the fcpci-kernel-modules from atrpm-Repo are useful? 2. Whats about channel bundling? Does CentOS bundling automaticly on every established connection (if it is selected in Network-Configuration) or is it only set/unset with the isdnctrl addlink/removelink ippp0 command? Thats very important because there is no flat-rate on this ISDN-Connection. I intend the use of channel bundling only for remote-access The "simple" user on the connected window-workstations shall not use channel-bundling for surfing. (ISDN is on the server with samba / squid)...

Question concerning iptables and the example at tinc's homepage
Hi all, hi Guus, in july 2004 i received an e-mail from you concerning the way a packet takes across a (tinc)vpn: > They are forwarded from eth0 to tap0, but the kernel doesn't know that > tinc is forwarding them from tap0 to ippp0. So, the UDP and TCP > packets that tinc sends will be seen by the OUTPUT chain instead of > the FORWARD chain. At the other end, the received UDP and TCP packets > will be seen by the INPUT chain. When tinc sends the packets to tap0, > they will be forwarded to eth0 and then you should...

Diva 4BRI, asterisk and capidrv support ?
...sk+chan_capi answers the calls. However if I try to use my old isdnutils apps by loading a i4l compatibility layer then I have the following problems: - if I use the diva2i4l module and start the isdnutils (debian sid) subsystem: isdn4linux apps seem to work fine, I can dial-in, dial-out, use ippp0; only vboxgetty has a problem: 24-Apr 18:43:21 <J> Reading modem input (3 secs timeout)... 24-Apr 18:43:21 <D> Waiting for "OK|VCON"... Oops! 24-Apr 18:43:21 <E> Modem returns unneeded command "ERROR". 24-Apr 18:43:21 <D> Flushing modem (timeout)......

Network problems
Has anybody faced network-problems with Wine? I'm running RH7 with kernel 2.4.0, have the following network-interfaces: ippp0 for ISDN, my internet connection vmnet1 for one VMWare-"machine" lo0 for whatever ;) I've set up nat & forwarding to get my vmware-client to access to net, as my isp gives only 1 dynamic ip for me. For Wine, I've copied all .DLL -files from my working win98-installation, c:...

stand-alone dials in to office via isdn
Hi all, i think my problem is trivial, but i don't get this thing done ... In our office a linux-box ("gw") is connected like this: - via eth0 to the local net (192.168.1.0/24) - via eth1 to the DSL-router (dynamic ip) - via ippp0 (isdn-card) 192.168.2.245 to the stand-alone pc 192.168.2.250 ("single") "single" is a w2k box and have an isdn-card, too and is able to dial in to "gw". Routing is ok, reaching the pc's in 192.168.1.0/24 is working. Now i want to have a vpn between "sing...
