How to achieve the 'multi' fade effect that is used by Apple computer?
Hi all! My first post here, so: be gentle ;-) I have been playing around with the scriptaculous library for a while now, and I must admit it is great. However, there is one thing that I''m notable to achieve: On Apple computers website for ilife (iphoto) http://www.apple.com/ilife/iphoto/ there is a verrrryyy nice fade effect going on when you click the navigation for ''new in iPhoto ''08'', ''Organize by Events'' etc. Is it possible to get this effect working with scriptaculous? So far, I''ve mana...

Getting Picasa to view files in OSX
...Picasa on OSX 10.4 but I cannot navigate to the folders I store my photos in to get it to monitor them. Any ideas how I do this? Apologies if this isn't the right way to post or if it's not an appropriate topic - I have only delved into Wine because I really want to use Picasa instead of iPhoto. Many thanks, Sean Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com

map destination files files based on meta data
...throughout my home's infrastructure to a central repository. The problem that I foresee is that there may be collisions between filenames between the various computers where my family members sync their photos, movies, etc. So doing a simple rsync won't work. This is especially true of how iPhoto stores photos synced from iphones, ipads, etc. What I want to do is have the ability to map source files to a destination location / name based on meta information contained in the files. This could include exif data, or simple file meta information such at date / time. I don't want to hardco...

rsync 3.0.4, Mac OS X 10.5 and NFS: ._ files not copied?
...ION Source: Iomega NAS sharing via NFS Destination: USB drive with HFS filesystem, directly attached When I try to run rsync on the iMac, with the NFS mount as the source and the USB mount as the destination I get errors of this form: rsync: get_xattr_names: llistxattr("Cochineal/Images/iPhoto Library/ Data/2006/Roll 56/._DSC_5186a.jpg",1024) failed: Operation not permitted (1) for every file. No ._ files are copied - is this because the destination is an HFS filesystem and therefore supports resource forks? Then what is the error? It certainly looks like a read error r...

The use for an XML based metadata format
...e existing technologies are lacking? What I want is a format to give a detailed description of the content in an Ogg stream. The usage would be improved searchability on local machines (possibly even on the web and file sharing clients too) and sorting in media management software such as Apple iPhoto, Amarok, and WinAmp. Currently only Vorbis comment describe the content. What I aim to is to replace Vorbis comments. Vorbis comments are very limited to a few field names for describing content. There is only a poorly developed look-a-like standard for describing audio files; and all other med...

graphics rendering
Hey Has anyone got a graphics server running alongside ruby on rails? Kind of new to graphics rendering on a web server, so some general tips on a successful direction to go in would be great. I need it for automatic rescaling of images, similar to flickr. Thanks, RGC -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Feedback on XML metadata namespace
Daniel, before you step over everything that has been done before, we need to determine what exactly is the use case for your new specification. What concerns metadata, we currently have: * vorbiscomment - this is a header at the beginning of a logical bitstream which has metadata that refers to the complete file; there is a specification, which has been public for a long time and is the

Best Linux distibution for ruby on rails developement?
Hi, I am on Kanotix linux since the first distribution was released by Kano. However I am tired of the "if it can go wrong it will go wrong on Kanotix" pattern. Please recommend a distribution that by your experience is best for ruby on rails development and need no hour-long tweacks for even "simple" tasks. Thanks, Jan Martin -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Unable to mount SMB shares under Mac OS 10.6.5
...l Xeon (early 2009) with 12GB of 1066MHz DDR3 RAM and Mac OS 10.6.5. My home network is running on Apple's TimeCapsule router (version 7.4.2).
