USB->Parallel cable compatibility
I have an installation where we're replacing a rather old Linux box with a new one that has no parallel ports. The old box has two parallel ports going to Okidata printers. The IOGEAR GUC1284B USB to Parallel Adapter cable looks like it might be a simple solution to this, but I would like to know that it works before getting a couple. Comments? LAN sip-to-sip
I'm reading the O'Reilly "Asterisk the definitive guide", 4th ed, with a starfish on it. In some ways, astonishing that it's not really that definitive, it's more general -- and it only clocks in at one ream of paper! In any event, I'm having some port problems on my home network: http://security.stackexchange.com/questions/81752/ I need to open ports for

Issues with NVidia video driver and CentOS
We do have the elrepo drivers installed. Maybe part of the problem is also that we're using an IOgear KVM switch? Issues with NVidia video driver and CentOS
I'm having issues with a quad video card on CentOS. We have several systems on CentOS 6.8 and CentOS 6.9. The installed hardware is: Video card - Nvidia NVS quadro 440 PC - Dell OptiPlex 9020 Whenever you update the kernel, it kills the graphical interface. The system appears to lock up and freeze during a reboot, but you can still get into it with SSH, or, if you're at the console,

using upscode2 driver with Powerware 5119 RM
...It took some hacking but finally it works. I'm using NUT 2.4.1 and upscode2 driver version 0.87 (however the latest r2350 version of upscode2.c isn't significantly different, so I think all my results still apply). Here's the hardware: Apple G5 Xserve running Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 IOGEAR GUC2322 USB-to-serial adapter (uses Moschip 78XX) Powerware Model PW5119, P/N 05144717-5501, purchased 12/2000 so maybe old firmware? hints on KVM switches w/ X
Has anyone got hints on using KVM switches with XFree86? I'm using a wheel mouse and moused, but something gets out of whack when I switch away then back to X. Next time I touch the mouse, all sorts of weird things happen for a fraction of a second, then the mouse starts working OK. This is annoying and dangerous because it often winds up pasting random stuff into xterms..... Are there

Lin/Win desktop/games rig with PEG pass-through
Hi all, I''m planning a rig that has SuSE linux in Dom0 and Windows7 in a DomU with the PCIe video card passed through to the Win7-U and an AMD system''s onboard video for the Linux system. Couple xen-newbie questions: does my plan work in such that I intend to have the onboard video''s DVI and the video card (at present an NV GTX-460) on the same monitor and switch

using a Laptop as a KVM console?
Hi all, Has anyone seen something like this before: I want to use a laptop as a KVM console. Basically when a technician goes to one of our datacentres, or clients he has to look for a free LCD, keyboard & mouse to connect to a server (no network access, reinstall, troubleshoot failed kernel / HDD, etc). And then hopefully there's an open power socker in that cabinet. So I'm
