importing files, columns "invade next column"
...every empty space. I have reproduced what I have used as my read.table instruction. I have read the R-dataImportExport FAQ and still couldn't solve my problem. (I might have missed it, of course). I'm using R.2.01 in a Mac G4, 10.3.7. I can import the file, but one of the columns "invades the other", meaning that the if there is an empty space marked as NA on the first column, it gets the value of the second column. I tried to import four different files (details below) and I think the problem is with the number of columns (with less columns it works) workarounds: a) I c...

Help! Martians invading through IPSec. :-)
[ sorry for cross-posting this to newbies and users, but I''m a bit desperate to get this resolved ] This is strange... I had this working before without any problems, and recently we started to have some odd issues. I can''t be sure exactly what has changed as I''m unfortunately not the only person with access to the server. {sigh} The problem is that I pretty much

How to use different mocking frameworks?
Hi, I''m pretty new to Rspec, so hope someone can help me out with this. I''m leveraging a couple pre-existing applications in my current project, both have fairly robust test suites in Rspec already. However, one is using Rspec''s builit in mocking, and the other is using mocha. If I set config.mock_with mocha in spec_helper.rb, then all of the rspec mocks fail. If I

Automatic routine - NEW
Hi Again, First of all thank you for all the responses to my previous query. Your answers were very helpful and I did the job ;-). Now I hope you can answer as quick the following (sorry I am invading you with trivial questions): Let?s use again the following data.frame example: DF <- data.frame(x=rnorm(5), y=rnorm(5)) I want to obtain a new data.frame (or matrix) that contains only n rows (from the i rows DF has), and all the columns. If I have to do it step by step I would do someth...

Moterboard help Please
...gig. Well the machine would not see it and for some reason after hours and hours of trying I can't get a tekram 395UW and a 18gig scsi to be the boot drive and having failed I was stuck with IDE. I finally got tired of it being this way and decided to flash the motherboard which is a Micronics Invader ATX m8s-fin motherboard. Well dumb me I flashed it with the wrong bios. And I can't find the original bios on the net anywhere do any of you all have this motherboard and can send me the bios for it or possibly know where I can find it. Any of your help would be greatly appreciated. And befor...

syslinux vs isolinux - com32 serial port output problem
I have a need to display text to COM2 before loading a kernel. The easiest way to do this was to invade menu.c32 (menumain.c) and add a function to send the string out to the serial port just before the selected menu "label" is executed. In menumain.c, my function is called just before 'if (cmdline)'. The code I wrote to initialize the hardware and send individual characters to C...

Using Ruby on Rails to Create Historical Blog
...hoping people on the list might just let me know whether RoR would work well for this idea. To give you some further information, this is an example of something like what the main page would like like in an historical blog of World War II: <heading>1939</heading> Sept. 1: Germany invades Poland [linked to further information on this in a WP post] Sept 3: France, UK, New Zealand, Australia, declare war on Germany [linked...] Oct. 6: Last Polish army defeated [linked...] <heading>1940</heading> April 9: Germany invades Denmark and Norway [linked...] [...] <headi...

Call recording format
Hi All, We have a requirement to record over 60 simultaneous calls. Our recording facilities are implemented using Monitor() over AMI. The thing we have noticed that making 60 simultaneous call recordings using wav CPU load is significantly higher (around 2 times more) than using gsm. Even writing call recordings to /dev/null makes a big difference in CPU load. What could be the reason for this?

Icecast2 in xiph CVS
Hi all: A couple of weeks ago, Jack posted on the icecast list that icecast 2.0 and its relatives would be moving to the xiph.org CVS repository and that he'd post the details shortly. He hasn't yet, probably just an oversight. Anyway, I went exploring the other day and found them. The details are as follows: Server: :pserver:anoncvs@xiph.org Password: anoncvs For those not familiar
