[PATCH] Allow Ajax.InPlaceCollectionEditor to load collection externally
Attached is a patch to allow Ajax.InPlaceCollectionEditor to load the collection using AJAX. It adds a new option, loadOptionsURL, which is the URL used to load the values over the interweb. It expects the server to return <option></option> values. If one of them has a selected="selected" attribute, it will probably be pre-selected. Not tested that though. Also only tested in FF, however the only actual new code is a line of Element.update(), so I don''t...

Samba and the InterWeb
Hi, We have an office-based Windows-locked publishing system whose only delivery mechanism is to write to a local filesystem, and a requirement for its output to be available to a collocated production environment comprising Solaris and Linux boxes. The 'obvious' solution was to run a Samba server on one of the collocated Linux boxes and mount the share it provides on the relevant

Thunderbird Will Not Download Email Until Computer Is Rebooted
Hey Guys, Have any of you seen an issue with Thunderbird in which the computer has to be rebooted for email to be downloaded? I have been looking over the InterWebs and I cannot find anything. I can see new email on the server as well. Where would be a good place to start for troubleshooting this issue? Thanks

Newbie question on building with Visual Studio
...er.cpp 1>TGParser.cpp 1>LLVMTableGen.vcxproj -> D:\LLVM\Build\Release\lib\LLVMTableGen.lib ========== Build: 1 succeeded, 0 failed, 3 up-to-date, 0 skipped ========== Makes sense to me. But why doesn't it continue on and relink llvm-tblgen.exe? I spent about half an hour searching the interwebs, but all I could find was complaints about building too much, not too little.

Postfix relay on Comcast
...o get postfix working on CentOS 6 and Comcast. Recently, they've changed their policies regards email relay and require authentication even to send email. (they no longer use IP address ranges, presumably in an attempt to curb outgoing SPAM) I didn't see an updated howto anywhere on the Interwebs, thought I'd point out what I had to do. The part that had me stumped for longer than I care to admit was having to install cyrus-sasl-plain rpm - EL5 apparently had that installed as part of the cyrus-sasl package. 1) yum install postfix cyrus-sasl-plain; # note that cyrus-sasl-plain is N...

Booting legacy Linux kernel in EFI mode
Hello, My question is quite straightforward, still I couldn't find an anwser on the interweb. Is it possible to boot the Linux kernels I used to boot in legacy mode, but now in EFI mode? I mean, I would like to keep all my PXE settings with my menus and kernels and stuff, but now boot them in PXE-EFI mode. I've been able to boot on syslinux.efi and keep my config files, but when I tr...

Steam crash when installing/launching any game.
...wine from the respos. and i am on hardy. 86 x64. I have a nvidia geforce 9600gt with the latest drivers installed. When i try to install steam it loads fine with no errors at all. I can also log into steam with no issues. The problem i am having is that when i try to install a game using steam via interweb it just crashes. I thought maybe i could just go over to my windows half and copy my games over to my .wine/drive_c/Pgram/Steam / folder and when i launch steam again it shows my installed games but when i try to launch the game it just crashes again. heres my output when i double click on a game...

I have several Ubuntu & Mac OS X machines that suffer no network connection problems & I can connect to the InterWeb just fine (via two HP Procurve 2426s). Any help appreciated. Cheers, Phil...

Using '[' as a function
...ld be greatly appreciated... I obtained this code to extract the first record from each of a series of vectors in a list: >example<- list(c(1,2),c(3,4),c(4,5)) [[1]] [1] 1 2 [[2]] [1] 3 4 [[3]] [1] 4 5 >sapply(example,'[',1) [1] 1 3 4 however, after perusing my book and the interweb, i remain puzzled about how '[' works as a function in sapply. -Why does R recognize '[' as a function? -Why does it need the quotes? - How does the function know to use the optional(?) argument "1" as the index location? - Any other information linking this specific e...

Can't NAT in KVM
Good morning, list, I've been trying to get my KVM virtual machines to connect to the Interwebs for the last 3 hours with no success. I'm running Debian Wheezy (fully patched) and building virtual machines using KVM in Virt Manager. With the default, factory settings shown in virt manager, I have a default virtual network with the device name virbr0, which starts on boot and uses the de...

RAMDisk vs Extarnal server for recording
I'm having loads of problems with recordings, as in crappy audio quality and lost pieces of the recordings. I've been searching for a solution and the solutions i find on the interwebs include a ramdisk, for local recording, or another machine, handling the recording. I guess the ramdisk would be the "easy" solution and the external machine would be little harder to set up. I do actually prefer the external machine, but i'm not exaclty sure how to set that one up....

XEN Virtualization & Isolation of Guest using ebtables
...r XEN You can see from the information dump below that my XEN network configuration is a little complex (that is another story and another post, but anyway...) What I am attempting to do with this network setup is to ensure that no packet can travel to or from the Windows 2003 guest domain "interweb" (ID 3) to Domain-0 unless it does so via the physical ethernet interface. I have ensured that interweb(3) is on its own bridge along with the physical interface, eth2: xenbr2 8000.dab561626236 no vif0.2 pet...

Idea to possibly improve flac?
Hi folks! Due to the fact that more and more users increasingly use MP3 < 320kbps as their source for encoding music, and publish it as flac files, I suggest that something is done in the flac encoder to possible avoid this. My idea is kinda easy/stupid, but might work; Implement a function that use a FFT to check if the input has frequencies > 16kHz, and informs the user that the file

OTOH the comment raises another concern: what about old Windows versions without PowerShell? Most probably virt-v2v needs to report that to the user (a warning, perhaps) so they know that the static IPs...

file_column and has_many
...lumn_fields for uploading multiple images. The problem I''m facing is in the controller. What is the best method for getting all of these files through the has_many and into file_column? I''ve tried a number of variations on Image.new to no avail. I know someone out there on the interweb has been through this before, but the docs for file_column are terrible and the author doesn''t answer his email (despite my desperate jumping through his anti-spam hoops). Weird Echo Problem
Ok I know I'm not the only one having echo problem with asterisk but the weird thing is that when I receive a call from a PSTN line on my TDM04B card I don't have any echo problem at the beginning of the call then after a few minutes I start having echo on my side only (the person calling from a regular phone doesn't have any echo), then it stop and come back all the way until the
