OT: Recommendation for a good Internationalized terminal software
Hi all,
We've got server-based application that runs on CentOS. Until now,
most of our customer's end-users have accessed the application using
either PuTTY or Teraterm. I was asked yesterday to try and find
internationalized add ons or alternatives for our new Asian customers
(Japan, Korea and China atm).
I figured if anyone would be able to recommend terminal emulation

Internationalizing the Rcmdr package?
Dear R-devel list members,
I'm considering adding support for other languages than English to the Rcmdr
package. I understand that the use of Tcl/Tk by the Rcmdr package means I
won't be able to make full use of the internationalization facilities in R
2.1.0. I'm interested, therefore, in whether the following, more limited,
strategy (which bears some similarity to the

RFD: Internationalizing the menu system
I know quite a few people have interest in internationalizing the menu
system. This is a tricky problem, since have a full-blown rendering
engine for the more complex languages (Indic, Semitic and East Asian
languages being the main ones that have substantial complexities.)
Given that, I was thinking that the most sensible thing might be to

in_place_editor not working for Internationalization
I''m trying to implement internationalization in my app. I followed
the instructions on the Globalize example (http://wiki.globalize-
rails.org/globalize/show/Example+Application), using in_place_editor.
The translation works fine, however, I can''t get in_place_editor to
work to translate the strings.

Internationalization questions
Dear R-devel list members:
I have two internationalization questions, related to questions that I posed
previously. These pertain to Windows (I've tried under Win XP but assume the
issue is more general) and R 2.1.1 patched and 2.2.0 devel.
(1) I've noticed that the standard Windows dialogs in R -- whether initiated
from the Rgui menus, from winDialog(), or from tcltk functions such as

Internationalized version of the Rcmdr package
Dear R-packages list members,
I've recently uploaded to CRAN version 1.1-1 of the Rcmdr ("R Commander")
package. Based on the tcltk package, the Rcmdr provides a basic-statistics
graphical interface to R.
The general functionality of the R Commander has not changed much since
version 1.0-0. There are some small improvements to the package, but the
reason that I'm re-announcing

rsync internationalization?
Does anybody care about supporting non-English message locales in
rsync? (Do all sysadmins speak English? :-) Would anybody contribute
translations if we had the framework?

Internationalization of the Rcmdr package
Dear r-devel list members,
I've prepared a version of the Rcmdr package that uses the new tools for
internationalization and localization in R 2.1.x. For the present, this is
the development version of the Rcmdr package (1.1-0), available at
<http://socserv.socsci.mcmaster.ca/jfox/Misc/Rcmdr/index.html>. There is
currently a French translation provided with the package, courtesy of

We have a French translation (and general gettext-ization) of
vorbis-tools! Still needs to be merged, though. Perhaps I'll tackle
that tomorrow. See below.

Samba Internationalization
Hello,
I used with happiness Samba 2.2.3.
Everything works perfectly but I noticed two problems with accented characters; the first one on Samba, the other one on Swat.
I work with a win98 client and a Debian server.
Win98 use codepage 850 but I noticed, in fact, it use codepage 1252 and I suppose that conversion is made with a file called 12520850.cpx. On my Linux box I set up codepage

Which internationalization plugin to choose?
Hi,
I need to create rather simple page (gallery + news), but it has to be
in 3 different languages (polish, english, german). Which plugin do you
recommend? How to store translated data in the database - in a single
table with separate field for every language or in separate table for
every language?

Internationalisation/Internationalization
Good Morning,
I'm working with a queue at the moment and I having trouble with my
digits.
Australia is my example.
On the tiki it says for international digits, I can dump them in the
"digits/au" directory.
I tried that -- just because, I also made a copy in "au/digits".
When the queue announces the position I it says:

What's in a number? say.c internationalization!
http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0001429
We need to architect a general structure for saying numbers in voices.
Say.c is broken as it is now and it needs to be changed.
If we work quickly, this can be sorted out and fixed to 1.1, if not
before that.
There's a number of separate patches in bugs that fixes one language
per patch, but no general structure. I would be perfectly

After spending a lot of time saying numbers and dates, the Asterisk I18N project now targets
voicemail. The voicemail prompts are very much based on english language syntax, which works
for some languages and doesn't work for a lot of languages.

ruby on rails international & BIRT integration?
Hello,
I see, that Rails is quite english-centric. I am developing some webs,
that are not primarily in English. I have a few questions:
- besides turning of plurals, what should I take care? How to use utf-8
for all data and converting it from local charsets to utf-8?
- how do I make my page multilingual (i.e. adding english support
later)? Is there something like gettext support? Is

Internationalization and localization of R
This pre-announcement is being sent for information to both R-help and

We are about at the end of a several-week process of adding support for
non-Latin character sets and non-Western-European languages to R.
- For Linux users, R works in the UTF-8
