How to configure Inter7's Asterisk Fax with Postfix
I'm running Postfix as my email server. When comes to configuring Asterisk Fax, Inter7 recommends QMail. Does anybody knows postfix equivalent for the qmail? I don't have any knowlegde in QMail. This is the installation guide for astfax. ( http://www.inter7.com/astfax/INSTALL ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3) Configure MTA [ Th...

maildri++ quota
When is the maildir quota usages recalculated and written to the second line of the "maildirsize" file? I'm using 1.1.4, and I reset the quotas for my users by just taking the first line of their maildirsize file and deleting the rest. -- Ralf Hildebrandt (Ralf.Hildebrandt at charite.de) snickebo at charite.de Postfix - Einrichtung, Betrieb und Wartung Tel. +49

[Fwd: Re: [vchkpw] vpopmail now has vusage daemon support]
...dexes updated as well. I think just 'HOME' needs to be exported, > but I haven't tested it yet. Is there a way to update Dovecot's indexes without having it handle delivery? In that case, we could easily add support for this into vpopmail. - -- /* Matt Brookings <matt at inter7.com> GnuPG Key D9414F70 Software developer Systems technician Inter7 Internet Technologies, Inc. Vpopmail support broken
...quot;vpopmail support broken" line from the configure script, compiling and running seemed to work short-term. I was able to authenticate against the vpopmail plugin. I tested with vpopmail 5.4.32 and 5.5.0 using the cdb authentication module. fax soft client
I emailed this before but never got a reply, maybe there have been some new technical developments. I understand that the AMP/A@H now allows faxes to be received via a software solution but I'm interested, is there a way to send faxes using software? Maybe something like a SIP or IAX software client that can be run on a XP pc to initiate the call to an asterisk server? Cheers, Dean

Qmail+Vpopmail+Mysql+Dovecot 2.x (Notes on a successful conversion)
SoI had a hell of a time converting my qmail install to dovecot 2.0.5, so I thought I'd pass on what I learned. 1. When using vpopmail, do not use " --disable-many-domains". If you do, you'll need to recompile vpopmail without that setting and use the script found at http://qmailrocks.thibs.com/downloads/scripts/migrate-vpopmail-many-domains to collapse the tables. 2.

maildir++ specification compliance.
Hi folks. I was doing some testing this morning and realized Dovecot RC2 isn't fully compliant with the maildir++ specification. Most notably, it appears that Dovecot isn't creating a "maildirfolder" file (0 byte length) in folders it creates. >From http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html "Within each subdirectory there's an empty file, maildirfolder. Its existence tells the mail delivery agent that this Maildir is a really a folder underneath a parent Maildir++." and "Make sure to create the maildirfolder file in any ne...

Maildir++ quota inconsistency
I've found what I think is an inconsistency in the Maildir quota implementation. According to the Maildir++ quota specification at: http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html Maildir++ quota can be specified as maximum size, or maximum number of messages, or even both. The size specification is supposed to be in bytes. So I could use '10000000S' to set a quota of around 10MB. Now, the Exim MTA has an independent Maild...

What is the recommended way to delete a message from a mailbox ?
Hi, I'm implementing a shell-script (pseudo) solution to the missing IMAP Outbox feature in Dovecot (Courier IMAP feature http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/INSTALL.html#imapsend) In order to remove the message from the Outbox once it is sent I have a question: What is the recommended way to delete a message from a mailbox (from an "external" server side program - such as a shell script) ? Can I just remove the file from t...

"Disable non webmail IMAP access" in vpopmail and Dovecot
...ility to disabile IMAP, expect for 127.0.0.1, both for individual users than for single domain. So i can grant IMAP access, from remote client, only for some users but webmail access for all. Here you can read some of my messages in the vpopmail's list: http://www.mail-archive.com/vchkpw at inter7.com/msg25880.html But with dovecot this feature seems not to be compatible. A friend of the vpopmail's list sent me a patch for dovecot but I can not get it to work: >->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->-...

Maildir + Evolution
I don't know if this is an Evolution bug or not, but when I use the maildir format with Dovecot 0.99.10p2 (from OpenBSD packages collection) and connect to it from Evolution 1.4 using IMAP, Evolution displays subfolders incorrectly. It actually does not show any subfolders, only root folders with names like "Folder.Subfolder" and "Folder.Subfolder.Subsubfolder".

Beta 7 maildir++ "unlimited quota"
Hi. It looks like Beta 7 is treating a zero quota in maildirsize as a literal quota value. The maildir++ specification says a zero quota means unlimited. Steve

Maildir++ implementation issues.
...o ignore these when reading the maildirsize file in maildirsize_parse(). It appears to be using sscanf to look for numeric entries: if (sscanf(*lines, "%lld %d", &bytes_diff, &count_diff) != 2) I've read and re-read the maildir++ specification at http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html and can't understand why Maildrop implements things this way.
