Rversion.h
Our current intention is to no longer include Rversion.h from R.h as from
R 1.6.0 (which is months away).
Package maintainers when revising code might like to check if they
actually use Rversion.h, and if so include it explicitly.
I did a quick grep through the CRAN packages, and in all but one case
(mda) the test is for R < 1.2.0, so it may be simplest just to tidy up
and add `Depends: R

Question regarding default user domain in samba
Hi, Everybody,
I sent an email to this list with a couple of questions in it earlier
this week; this is kind of a 'repeat' question, so I apologize if
you've read this one already; I wanted to flesh out the details of my
inquisition a tad bit more in hopes that somebody could potentially
chime in with an answer as I am afraid that I either a) didn't

Dear Mike,
Unfortunately, I did not succeed to have it work.
I got in contact with James Dennis <jdennis at law.harvard.edu>, who

Newbie Question
Hi! I just ran the first few Rails tutorials and I''m really impressed
at how quickly I was able to get something up and running.
I''m slowly emerging from the stone ages, and leaving my powerbuilder
behind ? yes, I know, keep the snickering to a minimum please! I
started into J2EE/STRUTS, but was quickly frustrated by how long it
would take to code anything but relatively

AEC with different soundcards
I've been testing the AEC and have experienced it working on one sound card, and not working when using different cards for capture/playback so I know it's a real problem. And yes I know the documentation says it won't work "regardless of what you may think." I'm the inquisitive type; I'm looking to understand just what exactly is happening here.
One discussion in the archives: John Ridges says "The AEC can only cancel linear changes to the audio path, and so the AEC never converges." I guess I don't understand the "linear changes" part of that...

problems with non-interactive shells on Solaris 8 with 3.7.1p1
In case you have problems with 3.7.1p1 on Solaris 8 and have the following
messages logged:
fatal: PAM: pam_open_session(): Can not make/remove entry for session
Try installing Sun patch 111659-07 or later (or some later patch which
incorporates this patch). This fixed it for me, YMMV.

FXO on AT&T broadband POTS line?
Does anybody out there run * on an AT&T broadband phone line? I'm not
seeing any callerid and I can't tell if its AT&T doing something funky
or if its my setup. I do see CID on my normal phones....
Thanks,
Chris

Mirroring a server
I'm trying to use rsync to mirror an entire FreeBSD 4.5 server. This includes the
kernel and quite a few other system level files. As one might expect, rsync hangs
when it tries to copy the kernel file. Has anyone had success with this kind of
setup?

want to find and fix a bug, I'm sure the r-development team would welcome
your assistance. (BTW, it has never been difficult for me to figure out
how or where to report problems and concerns. Indeed it isn't in the FAQs

inquisitiveness could figure it out.)
Yelling at the developers is a no win strategy. They're not obliged to do
anything, including fixing bugs. They do it voluntarily and most of us
genuinely appreciate the incredibly hard work they do. I'm not an

Errmsgs b4 and after migration DC V1.0.15 to V1.1.8
Last Wednesday at 12:21 I made this switch, which seemed to be
uneventful. In any case, no user has reported problems since the
migration. Not content to leave well enough alone, this morning I
scanned the syslog and maillog for dovecot related errors. What I found
was that:

I saw a lot of SSL errors that look like this:

Modifying Address Sanitizer
Thank you for the response.
Suppose I want to make changes in the LLVM part of Address Sanitizer.
Is there still a way to test the changes made to address sanitizer as a
standalone.
Also can a pass be run after Address Sanitizer Pass is ran, where I can
access the variables created by address sanitizer [LLVM Code] so that I
avoid making changes directly to the address sanitizer?

Staged migration from mbox to maildir
So much changes in this migration that the ideal way to do it would be
to begin with a few users or a department, then migrate the users
affinity group by affinity group: first an institute or so, then the
faculty, then the staff, then the students, moving to bigger and bigger
groupings as the bugs work out of the migration and the move becomes
more assured.
We use sendmail and procmail.

Unrecognized Samba service.
Hi,
I installed CentOS 4.3 on my machine which comes with Samba
3.0.10pre-installed. I want to use the latest Samba
3.0.22, so I uninstalled Samba package (rpm -e samba, rpm -e samba-client,
samba-common can not be removed due to the package dependency). I then
downloaded Samba 3.0.22 and installed it on my machine. However, when I try
to start samba service and got a "Unrecognized Samba
