OT - Number Portability
Sorry for the off-topic, but perhaps this will be of interest to other asterisk based ITSPs. We are starting service in a rural area where the ILEC has the rural "monopoly". From what we have read in the FCC docs this does NOT exempt them from number portability, but what does it take for us to qualify to receive their numbers? To date we simply have a few voice trunks to them,

VoiceConduits is a scam
I've paid them, tried to provision numbers, e-mailed support, instant messaged support, and got nowhere. I highly recommend everyone stays away from this provider.

Patent attack on Linux kernel
RHEL is mentioned in this attack on Google's use of the Linux kernel in back-end servers. <http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/04/21/texas_jury_says_google_infringed_linux_patent/> > At least some of those sued were using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) on > the back-end. Google apparently uses its own version of Linux across its > famously distributed infrastructure. >

order() (PR#9039)
Full_Name: Murray Smith Version: 2.2.1 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (202.36.29.1) order() will not allow a complex vector for its first argument. This contrasts with sort() which will happily sort a complex vector. While this may not be regarded as a bug by some, it is annoying for anyone who makes frequent use of complex numbers. The problem occured in the Windows version 2.2.1 of

Thinking about using two y-scales on your plot?
Please read this first: http://www.perceptualedge.com/articles/visual_business_intelligence/dual-scaled_axes.pdf It's a reasoned discussion of why it's a bad idea and proposes some alternative methods. Another good article is: K. W. Haemer. Double scales are dangerous. The American Statistician, 2(3):24?24, 1948. People have been advising dual-axis plots for (at least) 60 years! Hadley

Legal issues for non-profit radio stations.
Hi All, Some time ago I emailed this list and mentioned (as well as a couple of techinical queries) that I was trying to contact the PRS for information on the copyright licencing requirements of a non-profit on-line radio station, a few people expressed interest in this and asked I keep them updated. Well I just sent my third email (transcript below) informing them that I will assume a further

[LLVMdev] [cfe-dev] Use of Smart Pointers in LLVM Projects
Hi Alp, A clear place that smart pointers *shouldn't* be used are 'create' > functions. > > There's already a strong convention in the thousands of 'create' functions > across the codebase and they have the clear, well-defined behaviour of > returning a new pointer. > > We all know what to expect from these functions, much like new/delete in > C++

I have a commercial software that I?d like to completely re-do in Ruby on Rails, as a web application on Apache. But I don?t want to distribute it with the source code. Is there any way to install/deploy and Ruby on Rails application without the source code? Thanks in advance, Jes?s Dugarte.- -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
