USING MULTILEVEL PACKAGE AND WABA FUNCTION
...subordinate. Thus, I need to show that lack of independence is not a problem, and a reviewer told me to use WABA. The question is, how? In which way i can build my X and Y? I've understand that i need a variable group (supervisor), but i didn't understand how i can prove that judgement are indipendent from the supervisor. Another specification: supervisors reply to 12 items about each worker, and i have more than 15 supervisors, and ones of them judges only few workers, and others ones judges a very big quantity of workers. The reviewer also told me that another approach is use multilevel modeli...

Is it possible to mix encoded audio?
Hi to all, I developed a VoIP application using Speex. Now i want to record the conversation to a file. As i have two indipendent thread transmitting e receiving voice i whish to mix both audio streams in one stream before saving the conversation to a file. I'm using Speex in narrow band mode, 8 bits per sample, mono. i found at this link http://www.vttoth.com/digimix.htm a simple way to mix audio: ".........Le...

Password change question/2: 'syncpassword' suffices on *ONE* DC?
I'm forced, for legacy reasons, to use 'syncpassword'. Docs are scarce, so i ask here. Seems to me that the ''consumer'' (eg, 'samba-tool user syncpasswords', with or without '--daemon') get activated after every password change, indipendently on what DC get originated (eg, i've changed a password, see previous email, on DC2 and the 'syncpassword' script get called on DC1). So seems to me that all that stuff (minus the GPG key and the 'password hash gpg key ids = 1234567890ABCDEF' in smb.conf) it suffices/have to b...

dyn.load(), DLL, Fortran, TLNise software
Dear all, I would like to call TLNise ("Two-Level Normal indipendent sampling estimation") software within R. This software estimates a hierarchical model and it can be download from Philip Everson's website at "http://www.swarthmore.edu/NatSci/peverso1/TLNise/tlnise.htm". The TLNise software consists of: 1) a Fortran source code (tlnisemv1.f...

waldtest and nested models - poolability (parameter stability)
Dear All, I'm trying to use waldtest to test poolability (parameter stability) between two logistic regressions. Because I need to use robust standard errors (using sandwich), I cannot use anova. anova has no problems running the test, but waldtest does, indipendently of specifying vcov or not. waldtest does not appear to see that my models are nested. H0 in my case is the the vector of regression parameters beta1 is the same as the vector of parameters beta2, where beta1 and beta2 are computed for the two subgroups (divided according to a factor). I was...

prediction using gls with correlated residuals
...= corAR1 (form = ~ 1) It should mean that the residual follows an AR(1) process, isn't it? The problem is that, if I use the funcion "predict" I noticed that the predicted values are the same as if I estimate the same model with the function "lm" considering the residuals indipendent (this is true both in and out of sample). Does it means that "predict" doesn't use the information about the residual correlation to improve predictions? How can I overcome this problem? Thank you so much for your help, Carlo Fezzi

multinomial analisys
...ferent service for each common, and for each one of them, i've built variables like measurability of service, asset specificity and others.... My questions are 2: 1) Is correct think about a multinomial logistic regression? (tipology = dipendent variable; measurability,specificity etc etc = indipendent variable) 2)What is the best (simply) way to make a multinomial logistic regression (if it's the correct way to act)?? Thanks to all and greetings.... and sorry for my english, that it isn't perfect! Costantino Milanese _________________________________________________________________...

vorbis-tools spec fixes
The .spec-file from vorbis-tools needs to be updated to handle FHS compliant distributions (man files are arch indipendent and should be in /usr/share/man to be compliant). The %configure macro always contains the correct configure args for the current args. The included patch contains a small change to use the %configure macro, I would prefer removing the ./autogen.sh invocation altogether, but that is the decision o...

Comparing means and trends in short time-series
Dear R-list, I have a statistical problem with the comparison of short time-series, representing densities of fish in different streams. For each stream (6 in total, here below showed only part of the dataset) I have 8 years of density data, as follows: year density stream 1 2000 0.51 stream1 2 2001 0.87 stream1 3 2002 0.68 stream1 4 2003 0.56 stream1 5 2004 0.50 stream1 6
