Request - Javascript player using Media Source Extensions
Hi, I was wondering if there is a javascript player that uses Media Source Extensions to play Icecast streams on modern browsers. Based on my limited research, the following players do not seem to support Icecast streams: Aurora.js - Icecast does not support HEAD requests, which Aurora.js seems to require. Shaka - Needs DASH manifests, cannot play off a simple URL. IANAL but MPEG LA seems to

Streaming AAC with libshout?
Hi, I am wondering how to add AAC support to GStreamer's shout2send element. Support for this format seems to be enabled in icecast for a while and it would be nice if one of the major open source frameworks would have been capable of streaming such content. GStreamer's shout2send relies on the libshout library but it defines only two formats - MP3 and Vorbis. There is no single word in

IceCast 2.2 MP3 stream and Real Player noise
Just checked using RealPlayer Windows 10.5 latest release. This also glitches. This is more than likely due to the differences in metadata between SHOUTcast and Icecast2. This is exactly the reason I was asking for the exact differences between the protocols so I can help get these things fixed with the player folks. Real is not the only player with this problem. I may be in the AAC/aacPlus camp,

And even is you use the un-timed API (shout_send_raw), the library cannot set the proper mime type, due to a limited list of possible values. IceCast KH - question
Simple streaming is fundamentally flawed this way. "The man with two clocks, does not know what time it is." Your source is clocked from one crystal in your source sound card, and played back on the basis of the clock crystal in the client sound card. There is nothing to say or keep these crystals locked to the same exact frequency, which is REQUIRED to maintain no clock drift. Unless

Stream not working on newer IOS devices
Hello, I'm with an organization that has been using icecast 2.3 and BUTT on windows for a couple of years without any major issues. However, just recently we have realized that the stream has a problem with newer iPhones. I did upgrade to 2.4.1 and it hasn't resolved the issue. On my old iPod touch it works fine but with the iPod touch 5 it doesn't. Works fine on a PC and android. We
