Samba server, works fine for several days, then load increases indefinately till server unavailable
Our Samba server running on CentOS 5.1 (upgraded from 5.0) with Samba
3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4 has been in place for about a year and a half. We had
no issues till about 2 months ago. This may have coincided with the
upgrade of CentOS 5.0 to 5.1 (which would have brought a new Samba
version with it).
Anyway, the server will be fine and snappy for a week or so, then out of
the blue, nobody can

smbpasswd hangs /usr/bin/passwd indefinately
Hello,
I am running Samba 2.2.3a-6 on a Debian(testing) machine.
It is running as a PDC for 15 Win2K(SP2/3) systems. Everything runs
beautifully except the users cannot change their passwds. When a user
CTRL-ALT-DEL and change passwd they ultimately get a messages stating that
the old passwd is incorrect....
If I log into a shell as a user on the system and invoke smbpasswd, It
goes through all

Unable to call certain 800 numbers through Teliax
...been able to call these numbers through Teliax
is to directly X-Lite directly connected to Teliax through SIP - so Teliax
claims that it is not a problem with their service, but with Asterisk.
In examining the asterisk log output it appears that the channel is never
answered and continues to ring indefinately. My guess is that there is a
timing issue with the signals being sent and recieved by Asterisk and Teliax
and that the "answered" is probably being transmitted before the "ringing"
signal and is therefore being ignored by asterisk and iaxComm.
If anyone could give this a sho...

Password Sync problems
...client (win98) which has successfully logged in
to the samba domain. It seems that the password chat asks for the LDAP
password of the user, which would be ther user's old password. But
according to the docs, smbpasswd is called as root and it assumes that
it is able to change the password indefinately. In the html help files
however, the example did show a %o field which supposedly sends the old
password. But this does not work. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks!

/var/spool/samba retention period
It seems like the files sent to the samba spool and then over to CUPS seem
to stay in the /var/spool/samba directory indefinately.
Is there a fix to this via a configuration, or just setting up a cron job to
purge?
Thanks

MOH problems
...mohmp3 directory along with the
sample-hold.mp3
file.
4. I created a test number that did an: Answer and then a MusicOnHold
5. I dialed the number with an ATA-186 and a Pingtel phone.
The first file to play was the sample-hold but every few seconds it
would drop out anywhere
from seconds to indefinately. The other MP3 files played the same way.
Anybody seen this problem?

libnet: sock_connected insists on a timeout
While working on integrating nonblocking IO into libshout, I noticed
that sock_connected cannot be called without blocking. If I read it
right, a timeout of zero will cause the call to block until the socket
is connected. So, my questions:
1. Am I reading this right?
2. How should I poll a pending connection?
I'd prefer to have a zero timeout act as a poll, but I don't know if

Agents and Queues
I've just installed asterisk as a new phone system for our office but am
having difficulty with the queues. Specifically I need a way to
redirect our sales queue to voicemail when no one is logged in to the
queue. I see I can use the joinonempty=no setting, however this setting
doesn't work if you use the agent functionality (at least not with
AgentCallbackLogin). I could, of

Keeping icecast from kicking clients
I'm trying to setup Icecast so that clients can stay connected
indefinately. Basically sources will connect on occasion, but may
disconnect until they get instructions to connect again (think about a
jukebox that does not play music until something is selected. Now add in
distrubuted, thin clients and you realize why this is an important
feature).
According to the ice...

Debian revisions and policy comments [signed]
...e the list emails into the proper folder now I guess :)
We can play with the revision of the packaging during testing. One
idea would be to use 3.0.1-0.YYYYMMDD for experimental test packaging
and then later change to 3.0.1-1 for the actual release. The advantage
of this is that it gives us an indefinate amount of revisions without
making the version string considerably longer with multiple versions. Of
course it would limit us to a daily build release. We also need not have
to necessarially upload to the 'experimental' distro for testing but can
host a mini-repository using the mini-dinsta...

Still getting a generator hang on 2.6.7
...g the generator hang bug using stunnel

seems to be around 50% of the time. Here's some strace output from the

Asymmetric load balancing
I have three Icecast-2.0.0 servers up with possibly more coming online.
I am trying to figure out how to do more intelligent load balancing
between the three.
Problem: There are bandwidth restrictions at a couple of the locations.
Current Solution: Round-robin DNS (with very low TTL) and a restriction on
the number of listeners on the servers where bandwidth is an issue.
I am finding this

dlopen RTD_LAZY and RTLD_GLOBAL
All,
I use a code which has a python (I use python36) wrapper loading shared
libraries. The code worked fine in RHEL 7 but as I was testing it on
Centos 8, python cannot import the shared library (the import is done via
dlopen with flags set as
> sys.setdlopenflags(os.RTLD_LAZY | os.RTLD_GLOBAL)
python then does a bunch of imports and most results in a shared library

Fallback on-demand relay problem
...tored, the fallback relay doesn't stop relaying. We've tried everything,
but once /asf2 or /asf3 is envoked for /asf1 fallback reasons, they don't
stop relaying their source streams even though the output stream /asf1 has
returned to normal. Eventually we end up with /asf2 relaying indefinately
with no listeners until we manually kick it from it's source server.
It seems there is a bug somewhere in the on-demand logic for relays and
fallback.
Here's the scenario -
1. Player connects to /asf1
2. Source relay for /asf1 is downed
3. Player is now playing /asf2 as it should. R...

Ajax Scaffold for a application started using win32-process module.
...when I fire
a request to get me the list page, I do get a response but the moment I
click "Create New" on the list page of the object the server for child RoR
gets stuck; no more requests are accepted and the create new request which
was fired also gets stuck with progress icon revolving indefinately.
With Rails scaffold I didnt face such problems. could there be some memory
issue with the amount of memory allocated for the process for a started RoR
application? which would imply that ajax scaffold needs more memory?
Any pointers would be appreciated.

webrick and in_place_editor_field
I''m having a strange problem with webrick spinning forever. I have a

The item partial looks like so:
