Win2K domain at work, Samba workgroup at home
This is a little off topic, but maybe someone can help. I have a Win2K laptop that's part of a corporate domain. When I bring it home and add it to my home LAN, it refuses to access any SMB machine (including a Samba server, Win98 or Win95 box) complaining that "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request." Is there any way to fix this easily? I

win32-mmap test suite
I just tried running tc_mmap.rb and noticed that something rather curious seems to happen. The call to Mmap.new in setup seems to cause the test suite to just exit without ever actually running the tests. I reduced the test suite to just this bit of code. This works, although the final test (TypeError) does not pass - no exception in thrown. This is 1.8.1 on Win2k. Any ideas? Dan PS - I

Winedevice.exe has caused a serious problem and Flash 8
The program winedevice.exe has caused a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience. I'm running Macromedia Flash 8 when this error occurs. I'm also unable to run the "Uninstall Wine Software" program. When I click it, nothing happens. This happens with wine 1.1.22 and 1.1.23. Any ideas? Thx! Ordering categories on a boxplot - a serious trap??
Hello all, I think I probably did something stupid, and R's part was to allow me to do it. My goal was to control the order of factor levels appearing horizontally on a boxplot. Enter search engines and perhaps some creative stupidity on my part, and I came up with the following: v=read.table("factor-order.txt",header=TRUE); levels(v$doseGroup) = c("L", "M",

Sweave and absolute escaped backslashed Windows paths in R 2.12.0
I've noticed a change in behavior in R 2.12.0 from 2.11.1 regarding the treatment of absolute paths in the file argument of Sweave in a Windows environment. Consider the minimal Rnw file, attached and reproduced below my signature in case .Rnw files get stripped. This file is stored on my (Windows) computer in H:/My Documents. Using an absolute path with the standard window's

0.5.1 release?
A while back there was some discussion of a wxRuby 0.5.1 release that would have the XRC fixes. Any ideas of when that might become available, or what the current status is? Thanks! Marshall

patch for 2.2.5 and check for start_tls with OpenLDAP 2.0.x libs
FYI.... There is a bu in the configure script for 2.2.5 that prevents the script from locating the start_tls function in the OpenLDAP 2.0.x libs. Apply this patch and rerun autoconf. Should fix it. Patches configure.in and passdb/pdb_ldap.c Sorry for the inconvience. cheers, jerry --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hewlett-Packard http://www.hp.com SAMBA Team http://www.samba.org -- http://www.plainj...

ip_conntrack_ftp fails to load on CentOS 4.3
I have a CentOS 4.3 box that is giving me some serious problem. During the "yum update" from 4.2 -> 4.3 I lost my connection (okay, I accidentally closed the window). I logged back on and did another yum update, and it appeared as though things completed properly. Everything is working fine, up until one of my hosting clients noted that he is now unable to use ftp to update his web

Could I ask that patches be made available in an obvious place on samba ftp mirrors, and advertised in annoucements? Because, all I got was this (since I am in digest): > --8323328-1405770873-1024960385=:30331 > Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII; name="configure.in.pa...

...y time(with logged errors referencing whatever account was logged in at the tme), when I tried "force user = mis" it also failed. Anyway, I think there must be some simple way to do this but I can't seem to figure it out, and having users come over to type in their password is an inconvience(I can't even say something like net use x: \\nexus\public user=my username in order to use my password)... This is a directory that has a lot of commonly installed software, as well as drivers and other such things. Thanks in advance, David

[on-discuss] Reliability at power failure?

Next, a power failure, 2 hours later, and this is what zpool status

[patch 00/43] lguest: Patches for 2.6.24 (and patchbomb test)
Hi all, These are the patches I'm planning to submit for 2.6.24. Comments gratefully accepted. Along with the usual cleanups and improvements are Jes' de-i386-ification patches, and a new "virtio" mechanism designed to be shared with KVM (and hopefully other hypervisors). Cheers, Rusty.
