network design - taking advantage of samba+openldap
In the headquarter of my Institution we have some 300 windows PCs, distributed like this: domain1: 100 clients in a consolidated samba 3.0.5-2 domain (RH 9.0) domain2: 20 clients in an incipient samba 3.0.14a-2 domain (FC4) 80 clients to be joined to domain2 without domain: 150 clients beloging to some three workgroups We outsourced the deployment of a LDAP server and we are in the process of put the server into production, but the contract only included the migration of domai...

C7, systemd, say what?!
...sh attitude. Like Windows 95. > > Mailing lists now are so full of children it's hard to even use them. > Maybe you should leave IT if heated discussions make you uncomfortable. Folks, I'm the one who made the original annoyed throwaway remark. I've even asked that we end the incipient flamewar. Look, as much as I dislike systemd, going on and on and on just ain't of interest. Hell, I'll probably skim and delete, or just delete. Now, the information that someone posted about what might be happening to cause my original question was helpful, and in *that* context, in the...

Loss of Ethernet adaptor

I have never run into this before. Can anyone cast any light on what might be going on? Is this an incipient hardware failure with one of the on-board PCI Ethernet adaptors? Is there any relationship with the syn flood that was blacklisted immediately before the failure? I do not thinks so but I need to ask. Thanks, -- *** E-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** James B. CentOS-5.10 Sendmail STARTTLS error
...0000, phase=client DATA 354, mailer=esmtp, status=4.4.2, rstatus=(null), host=inet08.hamilton.harte-lyne.ca., lastuse=Tue Nov 25 07:41:32 2014\n: 1 Time(s) I have not seen this sort of thing before and I am wondering what it means? Googling has not provided anything useful. In case this was an incipient HDD error I rebooted with /forcefsck but on CentOS-5 one obtains no log of the rc report. I am also not entirely clear on whether or not /forcefsck actually repairs any errors. Thus it may not mean much to have done this. -- *** E-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** James B. Byrne...

Help ordinal mixed model!
Good afternoon, gentlemen! After several days studying and researching on categorical data (various forums with answers from the owner of the library - all incipient) how to interpret the output the function MCMCglmm, come to enlist the help of you, if someone has already worked with MCMCglmm function in the case of variables ordinal dependent. I've read and reread all the pdf's of the package, the coursenotes Jarrod, finally, I'm exhausted. To clar...

C7, systemd, say what?!
I think we had enough of Systemd flaming last month. Please stop polluting my inbox and find an operating system compatible with your worldview. It is really tiresome to keep on hearing about it. Server reboots unexpectebly.
Dear group, I am in the process of configuring 2 new servers. They are running Centos 5.5 and for the last three days they have been rebooting unexpectedly, can you point me in the right direction what to look for in the logs. I have been checking /var/log/messages but don't see anything that hint me any clues why this is happening. Your input is much much appreciated. Lisandro PS. These are

[LLVMdev] Proposal: AArch64/ARM64 merge from EuroLLVM
...rs to make the decision: we want to spend as little effort as possible (in total) to do things on the backend, both now and in future. In the short term, ARM64 is the clear choice; it simply has more features now: ELF, FastISel, and the two NEON syntaxes were mentioned. On the other side there was incipient big-endian and CPUs with different sub-features (NEON/FP/...). Longer term, the question is much more difficult. Maintainability is often a matter of taste and there are issues with both backends (which we should do our best to resolve!): ARM64 has horrific handling of aliases and hacks in the var...
