Windows build strangeness
...t;RelWithDebInfo" /m:6 /t:Rebuild
This appears to compile everything okay, but invariably fails with
some set of link-time errors, reporting missing symbols. Then I run
msbuild again, but without the /t:Rebuild (thus it's a dirty build the
second time) and this succeeds.
Is there some inadequacy in the CMake dependencies somewhere, so that
some links are trying to happen before the libraries are completely
finished? Or just an msbuild issue?
I made my nightly script check for errors and run the second round,
because it has been happening so consistently, but a proper build

SSH scans vs connection ratelimiting
...a bit too wealthy for my brain to find such support.
So, my question is: Does anyone know how this particular attack works
and if there's a way to stop this? If my theory is sound and OpenSSH
does not have provisions to limit the authentication requests per TCP
session, I'd find that an inadequacy in OpenSSH, but I'm probably
missing something here :)

Astsee v0.1 released - an Asterisk channel monitor for linux/X windows
Hiya everyone. I have been working on a fun little app to watch what's
going on in your asterisk box via its manager interface. There's a
screenshot up and some info at http://sitkavoip.com/astsee/ -- Sorry it
requires allegro, but I was more keen about getting the ideas down than
worrying about the framework.
Comments/questions welcome, but probably off-list is best unless they

[Bridge] bridge/nf/ebtables patch for 2.4.27?
Hiall!
Is there un updated patch for bridge/nf/ebtables for 2.4.27? I tried the
patch for 2.4.26 but there were several rejects. Then I patched in the
rejects by hand and it zorked, at leqst for now. But to be sure I want
someone with knowledge to update the patch instead of me nokey ;-)
Best wishes

New DIB Engine still slow compared to the MAX engine?
I've been using the Max version of the DIB engine for a long time now, and it was always useful because it sped up everything so much. There were of course occasional glitches graphically (noticeably a few font colour issues though these were still less severe than the font color issues without max's engine). Once Huw started work on the new DIB engine that was going to go into the main

help: cannot allocate vector of length 828310236
Hi all,
I was trying a probit regression using polr() and got this message,
Error in model.matrix.default(Terms, m, contrasts) :
cannot allocate vector of length 828310236
The data is about 20M (a few days ago I asked a question about large file,
thank you for responses, then I use MS Access to select those columns I
would use).
R is 2.3.1, Windows XP, 512M Ram.

I am trying to use gee() to calculate the robust standard errors for a
logit model. My dataset (zol) has 195019 observations; winner, racebl,
raceas, racehi are all binary variables. ID is saved as a vector of
length 195019 with alternating 0's and 1's. I get the following error
message. I also tried the same command with corstr set to "independence"
and got the same

Tag Proposal -> Tag Standard
...2) As far as traffic to this list, it seems very little has been
decided about a new meta-data format which would supplant comment tags.
Let's see - it won't be in XML; that's about all I can recall from the
discussion. In other words, it hasn't come along very far.
3) The inadequacy of the id3 system is well-known. In particular,
classical music is not given fair treatment. And so, we have id3v2, a
conflicting and/or supplemental standard. While id3v1 support is
widespread, id3v2 support is still spotty. Some applications which
*can* use id3v2 prefer id3v1 when given b...
