I think the bug should remain open until it's resolved for real. I think the development team should consider putting the project on hiatus and work on the documentation for a bit. The world won't come to an end if there are no iptables releases for a few months or so (critical and security-related bugs, notwithstanding, of course). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.netfilter.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

Turns out there is a module called xt_tcpudp. It's necessary for netfilter to work, but there's no way to even know it even exists since there's not config option for it and it doesn't load on its own. [Bug 468] There is no real documentation for knowing how to configure the kernel for iptables
https://bugzilla.netfilter.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=468 ------- Additional Comments From laforge@netfilter.org 2006-04-21 13:37 MET ------- It very much loads on it's own on any system that I have (and that's many). There must be something wrong with your configuration of the kernel module loading system. what does 'modinfo xt_tcpudp' tell you? It should clearly tell you that it is aliased as 'ip{6}t_{tcp,udp}', which means that 'modprobe ipt_tcp' should load it, which in turn is what the iptables userspace program tries to do when you use '-p tcp' in one of your rulesets. Also, please stop posting this to this bugzilla entry, since it is not really related. We've never had individual documentation for kernel modules that get automatically loaded, and I think it's stupid to have it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.netfilter.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter.
