Samba as BDC in NT domain
I have this problem: there is a subnet 192.168.6.0/24 and the gateway is 192.168.6.1 which has also another nic 172.21.13.123 which belongs to subnet 172.21.13.0 where the PDC of NT-domain is. Remote linux auth vs samba4: winbind or nslcd + openldap.
...ba4 cann't use openldap as backend. samba4 ldap doesn't really is a full ldap. samba4 provides uid/gid mapping using winbind or nlscd So far, I'm using winbind and I can see the samba ad users added to the password database executing: getenv passwd But, after that, I'm lost. Can I impelement "remote winbind" at remote linux client machines? Do I need to setup a openldap proxy? If I setup an openldap proxy, should I use winbind or nslcd? openldap now uses automatic configuration, any clue to implement the openldap proxy with this type? Thanks...

smbd weirdness
I have two identical installations of samba v2.25 on linux boxes. On one system everything works fine but on the other, copies of smbd start but never terminate. The result is that the winduhs boxes that are trying to access the samba share get locked out and never find the samba server. The configurations of the two systems are identical and I am unable to determine why one works and the other

Samba newbie question...
Can Samba be used as a complete replacement for a Windows 2000 Active Directory server? I have some vague notion that this can be accomplished by using a combination of OpenLDAP, Samba, MIT Kerberos, and the OpenAFS file system. To say the least, the descriptions I have found have been vague as to whether or not I will be able to completely replace the functionality of an Active Directory server

Q: Ideal print setup on Solaris (2.6)
Hello there, We want to improve the way we initially setup printing on a farm of about 20 Solaris 2.6 servers, in a way that all the possibillities of printing are well impelmented and usable. Right now users can't delete jobs when they are queued onto the (Samba)server and (of course, because it's configured now like that- see example) every printer's job list appears in the same queue. I therefore would appreaciate it if I could see some examples of how...
