Name to address resolution: A and AAAA records
Hi, I'm installing a few linux clients and one server with samba. The
network addresses are IPv6 in the .local domain.
The avahi-daemon implements de MDSN resolver.
A standard "ping6 -Ieth0 servername.local" generates a "AAAA" query packet
which is correctly responded by the servername.local machine and the ping
works fine.
"smbclient -L servername.local" generates a "A" query packet, which de
avahi-daemon can't respond because (I think) it'...

[Bug 611] New: interface spec. - rule parser error
...Severity: normal
Priority: P1
Component: iptables-restore
AssignedTo: laforge at netfilter.org
ReportedBy: jaroslavflidr at acadiaoptronics.com
iptables v1.4.2
nat table (possibly others):
an interface specifications entered in the form of e.g. '-ieth0' (without the

-L) is a string: '-ieth0'...

IPv6 name resolution problem
...ally configure a
.local domain IPv6 addresses, so I must run the samba server and clients
over IPv6.
Only one machine will act as a server, but samba is up and running in all of
them.
The problem is that smbclient can't resolve the server's name, my probes
from the client follows:
ping6 -Ieth0 ipv6_server_address works fine
smbclient -L ::1 works fine
smbclient -L ipv6_client_address works fine
smbclient -L client_name.local fails with NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
smbclient -L ipv6_server_address fails with NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE
smbclient -L server_name.local...
