Jack trouble- cannot lock etc/passwd (Icecast/IDJC)
I`m making my radio station with Icecast. On Windows desktop everything worked perfectly but on my private Ubuntu-based laptop it`s not so easy... Hi, My friend who is not a techie have a small radio and they used to broadcast live with a mic plugged no a Ubuntu PC. On Ubuntu 10.04 they used darksnow with the right config file and it was OK. But now under 12.04 darksnow crash, butt is really difficult to start wit etc.... So simple question, is there any straight forward icecast client for ubuntu 12.04 with a decent GUI ? they

...don't understand (and i believe this is because i probably don't know exactly how icecast works) what you mean if i will be serving "already compressed" or "on the fly" material. Does icecast compress the material as well? So far what i did was : use some application (idjc usually) to send my mp3s to icecast and it was up to icecast to serve those mp3s to "listeners". And i did this both when i was streaming "live" and when i made a playlist. The concept i am thinking is : - use some application to stream music (as well as voice - live like an...

Smooth Linux icecast source GUI
Hi , I'm currently helping a small french Radio they Use Edcast for now on some old Windows XP machines and it's not really reliable at all although Edcast is a great piece of free software Then they might migrate to a Linux Box , but apart from darksnow I can't find a Linux GUI that would match the graphical ease of edcast. maybe the best would be a Web frontend for DarkIce but I
