investing in ideas and decision support system experimentation
we're looking for help to analyze some theoretical data-sets, essentially outlining the progress of a given number of ideas over time, by using R in conjunction with mysql databases. let's say there is a game, and the point of the game is to find the most worthwhile solution. let's extend that and say that this solution (or number of solutions) need to be validated by a community. and

IDEA support
hello! one thing i'd like to see in OpenSSH is (optional) IDEA algorith support. this would be useful especially in an environment which has a mix of old ssh v1.2.x and OpenSSH installations. according to Ascom non commercial use of IDEA is free (http://www.ascom.com/infosec/idea.html). also, there are countries (e.g. Finland) where IDEA is not patented. here's a patch suggestion for IDEA

thoughts
To whom it may concern: I am a computer engineering student at Marquette University. I have a lot of ideas for Operating systems and applications, but due to my limited knowledge, they are lying dorment in my head. If there is someone that I can bounce some ideas off so that they can actually accomplish it, this would be great. This may sound weird, someone with good ideas but limited

Which features would you like to see on the crantastic.org community portal?
Hi, As some of you know, one of the R Projects ideas for GSOC 2009 is to expand the crantastic.org portal. Some ideas for what should be done is mentioned in Hadley Wickham's project description [1], others have been briefly mentioned on this mailing list before. Undoubtedly, however, there are many other good ideas out there that could be implemented. Please suggest any ideas you might have

res_motv: Request for Comment
I've been considering the nature of Asterisk, its security, the bug tracker, and more... And i've come up with an interesting idea: A "message of the version". The idea is that Asterisk has a compile time 32-bit unsigned int version which is incremented whenever some major new bug is fixed. When Asterisk starts up (and periodically, maybe once per day), it sends a packet with

Idea: Backend for Lucene format indexes
Hi, I'm interested to implement the idea of using search indexes build by Lucene. I have some idea of how to do that. I'm currently studying the index format of both. I have written an application of search using Lucene and now I'll do the same using Xapian. then I'll check the details of those index format and then find how to convert Lucene index to Xapian one. Is there somebody

We've decided to apply for Google's Summer of Code this year - for background info on the programme see: http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/program/home/google/gsoc2011 We applied last year, and while we didn't get a place, the feedback was positive and we were encouraged to apply again this year. I'm happy to act as admin (which I've done for SWIG in the past, so I know

Feature Request: Invalid sshd port fallback
I would like to suggest adding a fallback in the event that somehow the sshd_config port number is invalid. Example: Port != (1<= or >=65535) By default fall by to port 22, and spit out an error. Same would go for if the new port is already in use, fall back to port 22 and spit out an error. Why is this a good idea? Would be a good idea because people are human and make mistakes, and you

Project proposal/idea: Categorize traffic by behavior
Back in 2003/2004 when finding the topic for my masters thesis, I had a secondary project idea, perhaps its about time to do something about the idea, and hear if anyone else thinks its a good idea? The basic idea is to: "Categorize traffic by behavior" The categorization should be based upon things like packet timing characteristics and packet size, rather than standard port

Google are running their Summer of Code again this year. If you're not familiar with it, see: https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/ We decided to apply a while back, but it's now time for orgs to actually apply - the deadline is just a few days away (Feb 20th). Notes from dbg.value coffee chat
I chatted with Jeremy Morse, Orlando, and Stephen Tozer at the dev meeting, and wanted to summarize the conversation for our benefit, and to share it with others. I aim to be brief, so I apologize if these notes aren't as helpful as they could be to folks who weren't present. Three project ideas, by priority: 1. Address https://llvm.org/pr34136, improving quality of variable location info

GSoC 2017
Google are running their Summer of Code again this year. If you're not familiar with it, see: https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/ Last year was very successful and I think we probably want to apply again this year, assuming there are a sufficient number of people interested in mentoring to make it worthwhile. Org application open on 19th (this Thursday) though the deadline is

If you're not familiar with it, see: https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/ Interested orgs can apply already up until February 6th (just over a week away as I write). [SoC09-Info] Idea submission.
Hi everybody, as Fritz mentioned in his introducing "Google Summer of Code 2009" email, I will manage the organizational part of the R-Project application and (hopfully) participation. Google's timeline schedules March 9-13 as date for organizations to make an application as mentoring organization. The idea is now to collect as many project ideas in a brainstorming phase and submit
