I have a Brother laser printer connected to a linux box running Samba.
It is working fine from Win98 workstations, but now I have Win2K on my

Anyone use PDQ with Samba for Printing
Hello,
** Please reply directly to ian@ichilton.co.uk **
Does anyone use PDQ for printing with Samba?
If so, please could you tell me what options to use in smb.conf??
Mainly, what do I use for the printing option?
Can I just use:
printing = bsd
print command = pdq -P%p %s; rm %s
Or, can I not use PDQ, because there is no setting for it on t...

Echo on Zaptel FXO :(
Hi All,
I've got an MD3200 modem which is working as a Zaptel FXO interface for
Asterisk (X100P clone I believe). It seems to work, but on incoming or
outgoing calls I can hear the other party ok but when I speak, I hear
my voice echo back at me (quite quietly but it's distracting!) on
everything I say. The other party doesn't seem to hear the echo - they
just say I sound a bit quiet.

Detect line is busy with Zap?
Hi,
I have an FXO card connected to my phone line which works in Asterisk as
Zap/1.
Is there any way of detecting whether something else is on the line
before picking up on this channel?
For example, I dont want to pick up and dial out on the line if someone
is on it using another phone (which is connected directly to the line,
rather than through Asterisk).
Also, when an incoming call comes

samba and firewalls
I have a little home network with one Windows 98 PC and a pc running
linux.
My idea is that as soon as DSL is finally made available to my area
(which I keep getting told will be real soon now) I want to route it
through the linux box and up to the Windows PC, using IP masquerading,
etc.
At present I have samba enabled on the unix box which opens up several
worthwhile conveniences to me:

SWAT
I was playing with this on my test machine, (redhat 5.2, samba 2.0.3)
worked great, and I was really impressed.
So I decided to install this on my office machine. (redhat 4.2, samba
2.0.3) and the only significant difference is that on the
office machine, I use encrypted passwords.
I cannot get swat to authenticate on the second machine. That is, no
matter what account, password combination

Incoming SIP Address?
Hi,
Is it possible to have an incoming SIP address like
someuser@sip.mydomain.com, where sip.mydomain.com points to a box
running Asterisk?
If so, please could someone give an example asterisk config snippet for
this?
If it is possible, I assume ports 5060 and 10000-20000 need to be opened
in the firewall too.
Thanks!

Asterisk & Gossiptel - 1 way audio???
Hi,
I have Asterisk setup and registered with Gossiptel but i'm only getting
1 way audio.
If I call 160 (echo test) or 123 (talking clock), it makes the call but
I just get silence. If I call my Gossiptel number from a pstn line, I
get gossiptel -> pstn audio but not pstn -> gossiptel audio.
I've got ports 5060 and the rtp ports forwarded in on the firewall and I
have 3 other sip

Sip Channels Left Open
Hi,
If I do a "sip show channels" - I seem to be getting channels left open
after calls have ended - any ideas why?
I thought at first it was my Sipura SPA-3000 and that Asterisk was not
detecting that i've hung up.
However, after more testing, it seems to be just on Gossiptel calls - I
tried a few of my other sip providers and the channels stay open after
the call has ended but

Voicemail Pager Subject?
Hi,
I have set emailsubject in voicemail.conf as follows:
emailsubject=New Voicemail from ${VM_CALLERID} in Mailbox ${VM_MAILBOX}
This works fine, but the pager e-mails come through with "New VM". I
would like the pager e-mail to be the same subject as above as I get
this as an SMS to my mobile phone.
I thought this would be config'able but I can't find any mention of it

SPA-3000 - Stop Message Waiting Indication
Hi,
I have my Sipura SPA-3000 setup with Asterisk as follows:
[spa3k_line1]
type=friend
context=home
secret=PASSWORD
host=dynamic
dtmfmode=rfc2833
dissallow=all
allow=ulaw
When an incoming call comes in, I have a Zap interface in Asterisk which
just does a Wait,15 then answers with voicemail.
The SPA-3000 detects the PSTN call and makes Line 1 ring - so I can
answer the phone if

SIP registrations not staying registered
Hi,
I have several SIP registrations on my Asterisk box. Sometimes, I try to
call in the inbound number from 1 and find it doesn't work. When I do
sip show registry, it's showing Unregistered (and sometimes there are
several which are showing Unregistered). If I type reload, it registers
and works fine straight away.
Is there something I can set to keep registrations connected all the

Incoming calls from Sipgate go through the wrong peer
Hi,
I have a few accounts with sipgate.co.uk to get some different DiD
numbers. However, when an incoming call comes in, it seems to pick the
wrong peer from sip.conf which sends the call into the wrong context and
it fails because there is no extension in that context to match the
register.
Using the config's below, if I dial the DiD on account 2222222, it works
fine - picks peer 2222222
