Hello, I am using a clean install Slackware Linux 7.0 which uses Kernel 2.2.13 I just downloaded samba 2.0.6, un-tar'd, cd source, ran the configure script, then: "make", "make install" However, I am having wierd problems and can not ket it working (see earlier post)... Is anyone else using Slackware 7, did it work OK first time, and did you use any special options when running configure or compiling?? Thanks in Advance!! Hi, I 'm using Slackware 7.0 (kernel 2.2.13) with Samba 2.0.6 on several servers on a networks of 250 PCs. I have no specifics problem. But be carreful : the compiled package of samba provided by slackware don't use the same default paths as original sources of samba. For example, if you reinstall Samba, your SMB.CONF must be in /usr/local/samba/lib/. Whereas if you use the binaries of slackware 7 samba will search SMB.CONF in /etc. It's the same thing about binaries of samba. Salckware install them in default path of linux (/usr/bin or /usr/local/bin). But when you reinstall original package of samba, they are not updated. the make install of samba don't copy binaries to default paths... Fran?ois Dambre. I.T. Manager WAVECOM S.A.
