Intel ICH9R Raid5 Recovery
I had a raid5 on an onboard Intel ICH9R chip under windows. Windows
crashed, as it often does, and the array became degraded. At some point
during the rebuild, I was doing some hardware maintanence and unplugged
one of the drives, and forgot to plug it back in.
When I booted up, the array came back as failed. I turned off the PC,...

Recover ICH9R raid5
I have a raid5 on an onboard ICH9R FAKERAID. I was booting into windows
and windows crashed as it sometimes does, which put my array into a
degraded step. At some point before the array finished rebuilding I
unplugged one of the drives and forgot to plug it back in. When I
booted up the system, it told me that the array was n...

Network problems on new CentOS 5 install on P35, ICH9R mobo
Had to replace dying cpu and mobo, so also replaced IDE with new SATA
drive. Installed from latest ISO onto SATA and can't get networking to
lease an IP address from my ISP (Comcast). The network utility always
comes up with a private address (192.168.0.2) instead of Comcast IP.
To add to confusion, if I boot into old IDE drive, I get proper network
connection to internet, but lose my

Current Chipset Compatibility
Can someone make a recommedation as far as best chipset for Centos 5.0 or 5..1 using a Q6600 series CPU?with chipsets that have onboard VGA??
From poking around it looks like the G33 and P35 are not supported or have problems until the newer 2.6.22 kernel (the?iso's appear to be earlier than that, think it was?.18)?? So I am considering boards with the Intel G965 chipset but not sure if is

chainboot Windows on second drive
...containing /, /home, and linux swap)
Second drive (raid0 array):
- primary partition (boot flag) for Windows XP (ntfs)
- various Windows partitions
I can boot Fedora and the rescue Windows system with extlinux but I can't boot
my regular Windows system on raid0.
Raid0 is a 'fakeraid' (ich9r) but the problem should not be here.
With grub, I have to swap drives to chainboot Windows using map commands.
I can't find such command for extlinux and I guess this is the problem. If I try
to chainboot Windows XP, it will start my rescue Windows system instead.
Here's my extlinux.conf....

Intel G33 Compatibility for Centos Server
Been running rock solid servers on Centos 3 and 4 for
years but equipment is starting to die so it is time.
I was thinking along the lines of an Intel Q6600 on an
Asus P5K-VM mobo with the new G33 chipset utilizing
SATA. Is anyone having success with this board or any
of the G33 chipsets where I am not going to run into
all kinds of install problems?

Stuck in geli
Rarely, a geli partition I have freezes a process in bufwait state. It
occurs after an ATA timeout message:
Aug 5 03:47:13 thor kernel: ad10: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA retrying (1 retry left) LBA=219028637
The geli partition resides on an Intel MatrixRAID RAID1 mirror using the
ICH9R chipset (Asus P5K-E/WIFI). Killing (even -9) the process does not
work. Rebooting is the only solution, yet the system is unable to flush
the buffers and complete a clean unmounting.
Both drives in the mirror have both survived a smartctl -t offline scan.
Also, a previous time it was with ad12,...

CentOS 5.3 SuperMicro x7sbi AHCI
...erboards. After upgrading to
CentOS 5.3 the Hard
Drive LED's on some of the servers started blinking red(drive fail) but
all is functioning
normally. All servers are running raid 1 arrays with MDADM. Primary
drive does not blink,
but all others do including spares. These boards use the Intel ICH9R
chipset. AHCI is enabled.
When AHCI is disabled, drives stop blinking, but drives are then
detected as hda,hdb,etc. and
server takes a huge performance hit.
All Servers have Western Digital SATAII 320G RE2 Drives.
So far:
I have reloaded Kernels

Solaris 10 with xen 3.2 or previous
Hi,
Was anyone able to run Solaris 10 10/08 as guest under a HVM domU Debian Etch (xen 3.0.3-1) or current Debian Lenny (xen 3.2-1)?
In my case Solaris installation stops after boot kernel ; I can''t see anyhing after grub screen.
I know that it is possible using Xen 3.3 (see [1]) but I don''t know if it possible with a previous Xen version
Thanks,
Álvaro

Can we disable secondary_bus_reset in runtime?
I think we need this feature at least for debugging purpose, right?
Or, do we already have this feature?
Thanks,

hda: no DRQ after issuing WRITE
I upgraded my Centos 4.7 server last night. Switched from a cheaper
50$ asus motherboard to a Supermicro motherboard. I also, using dd,
copied entire 500g SATA seagate drive to new 500g SATA seagate drive
so as to have two copies in case something went wrong.
Anyway, now I keep getting this error:

[PATCH 2/3] xen: make direct versions of irq_enable/disable/save/restore to common code
Now that x86-64 has directly accessible percpu variables, it can also
implement the direct versions of these operations, which operate on a
vcpu_info structure directly embedded in the percpu area.
In fact, the 64-bit versions are more or less identical, and so can be
shared. The only two differences are:
1. xen_restore_fl_direct takes its argument in eax on 32-bit, and rdi on 64-bit.
