CentOS 7.4 fails to boot as Xen PV guest: resurfaces (now also) with centosplus kernel 693.11.6.el7
...er the boot stage where the PS/2 drivers are loaded
Crashing does not depend on the amount of VM memory or #cores/sockets.
Also, the tell-tale "mm/vmalloc.c" failure output is no longer present.
The system 'just' crashes (with the kernel log lines as below) around the
time of the i8042 controller probing.
Obviously the stock upstream 3.10.0-693.11.6.el7 crashes as well for
XS7 XenPV guests, but that was to be expected as per 0013763.
It crashes in the same way, around the time of the i8042 probes.
Can anyone (maybe bill_mcgonigle?) reproduce the issue?

[PATCH] input: Fix interrupt enable in i8042_ctr when enabling interrupt fails
When enabling interrupts fails, the interrupt enable bit remains set
in i8042_ctr. Later writes of i8042_ctr to the hardware could
accidentally retry enabling interrupts. Clear the bit on failure.

Touchpad doesn't work with C6, kernel-related...
...chpad doesn't work. It's a new laptop, the touchpad
works correctly in Fedora 18 Live (given the kernel parameters below),
no hardware problems.
I searched the web all around, and it's a known issue for several
laptop models. The only solution, quoted everywhere, it is to append the
i8042.notimeout i8042.nomux
to the kernel parameters. The problem is that the latest CentOS6 kernel
(2.6.32-358.2.1.el6.x86_64) doesn't appear to recognize these. Or it
otherwise ignores them. I did append the parameters, but (unlike in
Fedora) the touchpad is still dead.
This laptop is to be used...

[BUG] Xen/Linux selfdescruction after not finding i8042 aux with 32GB of RAM
Currently the work around seems to be to add i8042.noaux to the kernel
command line. If someone wants to investigate, please do so.
As secondary problem I think it would be wise to put a big f*cking
warning that Xen + Linux + GCC 4.2+ is one big problem.

i8042.c: No controller found.
Hi All
This is Vemu Ramesh
I have successfully install ed my Linux guest OS on my xen vm using citrix xen.
every time when i reboot the my guest Linux OS i am getting the following errors "i8042.c: No controller found" and also it is not open the GUI mode even it is in default runlevel "5"
it is also every time loding xen kernel as default. i want to load default kernel.
is it poaaible to load default kernel as my gueat OS.
if it is then how to do that.
could some one help...

not sharing IRQ's
...I need to worry about uhci_hcd,
nothing is plugged into USB, but libata is the disk driver. How do I
get libata and wctdm to use different interrupts?

Hey all,
Just wanting to add my 2 cents here. I have a X/OS 4 Dev box running on a P3 550 and 512MB. Started getting this error when I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL.XOS. added the nmi_watchdog=0 to the grub boot line and all is fine now. A strange side effect seems to be the system load has dropped by 0.5 - 1.0 since the change. may only be noticable on my box because of the older arch

who broke keyboards again?
I have a client that has several dell machines, when he boots without
a keyboard he gets:
atkbdc0: <Keyboard controller (i8042)> at port 0x60,0x64 on isa0
but no:
atkbd0: <AT Keyboard> flags 0x1 irq 1 on atkbdc0
kbd0 at atkbd0
This used to work, then was broken by someone trying to "do the right
thing".
We need the keyboards to be hot swappable. I recommend that the next
dork that breaks this sho...

Do I have to worry about interrupt sharing here?
...y interrupt assignment, qozap is sharing interrupt 10 with libata and uhci_hcd.
I think libata is the IDE hard drive module and uhci_hcd is a USB module.

interface, I have a TDM04B card plugged into that motherboard and the
