Hypertext links in help files.
I've recently (finally!) installed R 1.9.0 on my laptop. Having done so I've encountered a mild problem with hypertext links from help files in add-on packages to ``native'' R functions. For example if I load the ``spatstat'' package, and ask for help on mpl(), I can see in the browser (I'm using mozilla) a link to glm(). When I click on this link I get an error message: The file /tmp/RtmpLq...

help.start
Dear R experts, I would greatly appreciate your help with R's hypertext online documentation, which I can pass on to our system manager. We are running version 1.7 on sparc-sun-solaris2.9 using netscape7 browser for displaying the help. The system is working, but there are a few frustrating details that I hope might be fixed. Here are three problems we are having:...

Right, this is exactly what I'm talking about (although I didn't consider it necessary to support image formats as these are already well covered by libs like imlib/GdkPixbuf.) One feature that might be nice is a processing swiss army knife (similar to sox for audio...

opening URL for writing
Dear List, Sharepoint sites are used more and more often by researchers as a platform to share all the information in a joint research project. Typically, they can be accessed only by a Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) URL. We are investigating whether it is possible to read and write data to Microsoft Sharepoint sites using R. We have managed to open a read-only connection to read data from sharepoint sites using the 'url' function (connections{base}), for example: c...

HtmlWindow and friends
Hi Attached is a patch to add HtmlWindow and some of its friends, including HtmlEasyPrinting. Also a sample. I haven''t tried exposing the parsing and rendering API yet to allow custom tags etc - I just wanted to get basic HTML and the 0.6.0 compatibility classes first. There may well be some quite easy classes left. There''s one ugly kludge to get OnOpeningURL to compile -

Outlook Web Access behind shorewall firewall doesn''t work
...as intended, but the web interface then is quite bad. OWA works fine inside the network, but not thru the firewall. The article above states that: Internet Explorer version 5.0 and later supports HTTP-DAV as described in Request for Comments (RFC) 2518). Distributed Authoring Version (DAV) uses Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) verbs that your proxy server or firewall does not recognize. Additionally, your proxy or firewall solution does not permit you to customize the list of approved HTTP verbs. Is shorewall able to handle this? Thanks! Boyd

question about Rails with non-relational databases
I''m very uncomfortable with Rails right now because it seems to be totally wedded to relational databases. I want to develop my data and data structures in Tinderbox - a hypertext data development system from Eastgate systems (http://www.eastgate.com/Tinderbox/), export the data and datastructures, massage to some format, and then use with a dynamic frontend that builds a web page based on the results of a query over that dataset. I''m designing in terms of mult...

markdown's reference links with the implicit name syntax - improvement suggestion?!?

[google]: http://google.com/ "Google" [yahoo]: http://search.yahoo.com/ "Yahoo Search" [msn]: http://search.msn.com/ "MSN Search" The hypertext it produces is fine, and includes the links as defined by the reference links. But I would like additionally to be able to have the table of links appears elsewhere in the html output. Is there some way of extending markdown in this direction. Perhaps a syntax like [][] would produce a table o...
