Problem with nls.lm function of minpack.lm package.
Dear R useRs,
I have a problem with nls.lm function of minpackl.lm package.
I need to fit the Van Genuchten Model to a set of data of Theta and hydraulic conductivity with nls.lm function of minpack.lm package.
For the first fit, the parameter estimates keep changing even after 1000 iterations (Th)
and
I have a following error message for fit of hydraulic conductivity (k);

sppolot: fill below minimum legend value
In the plot below, there are some grid cells that have values below 10, which
is the lowest "cut" value I have specified. Is there a way, without
adjusting the number of cuts, to tell R to fill in those cells with the
lowest possible color (in this case greeen)? There is a white "hole" in the
image about a quarter of the way in from the left side, this is what I would

extra panel arguments to plot.nmGroupedData {nlme}
Greetings,
I have a groupedData (nmGroupedData) object created with the following syntax:
Soil <- groupedData(
ksat ~ conc | soil_id/sar/rep,
data=soil.data,
labels=list(x='Solution Concentration', y='Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity'),
units=list(x='(cmol_c)', y='(cm/s)')
)
the original data represents longitudinal observations in the form of:

singular gradient error in nls
I am trying to fit a nonlinear regression to infiltration data in order to
determine saturated hydraulic conductivity and matric pressure. The
original equation can be found in Bagarello et al. 2004 SSSAJ (green-ampt
equation for falling head including gravity). I am also VERY new to R and
to nonlinear regressions. I have searched the posts, but am still unable to
determine why my data come up

John Rosatti, Excavators, 3D, NASA and Why Should I care?
Well, because! There are two definitions for excavator; one is any person
engaging in excavation is called an excavator. The second definition of
excavator is, of course, the vehicles called excavators, which are sometimes
called diggers, trackhoes, fronthoes, and 360-degree excavators or just
360. This is not to be confused with

Programming: loop versus vector oriented
Dear all,
I am new to R and to it's programming philosophy. The following function
is supposed to work on a vector, but I can't figure out how to do that
without looping through every element of it. Is there a more elegant
way?
Note: I have shortened it, so it is NOT correct from the pipe hydraulics
point of view
# Calculate wall friction factor
# reynolds: Reynolds number
# dk: relative roughness of pipe
lambda_wall <- function (reynolds, dk) {
z <- 1
result <- 0
for (Re in reynolds) {
if (Re <= 2320) {
# Laminar flow
lambda <- 64/Re
} else if (Re &l...

how to get r-squared for a predefined curve or function with "other" data points
hello mailing list!
i still consider myself an R beginner, so please bear with me if my
questions seems strange.
i'm in the field of biology, and have done consecutive hydraulic
conductivity measurements in three parallels ("Sample"), resulting in three
sets of conductivity values ("PLC" for percent loss of conductivity,
relative to 100%) at multiple pressures

JIT compiler, Windows, external functions like cos
Hello LLVM team,
our software FluidSIM (www.fluidsim.de) simulates pneumatic, hydraulic
and electric circuits. For the mathematical models we use the language
Modelica (www.modelica.org). We developed our own Modelica simulator
which solves the dynamical created algebraic differential equation
systems. One tool is our small JIT compiler, which compiles mathematical
expressions like “2*x0 +

COILED TUBING DRILLING TOOLS
The Jet Motor maximizes torque and RPM combinations. This motor has the capability to establish bit hydraulics. The long life bearing package allows the tool to stay in the hole longer than average. It can be jarred without damaging the tool which is ideal for drilling through shale. The Jet Motor has been used successfully with MWD and steering tools in drilling applications. The nitrogen power source perm...

how to call R from fortran?
I have a main fortran program and within a loop of this program
i would like to call R. I need to transfer a rather large
matrix (100 by 25000) between the two codes. Can anyone suggest
me the most efficient way to do this or give me more general
information on how i can call R from my fortran program or
where i can find some related information.
