Nvidia Mod Update
Hey all,
On my X86-64 CentOS 6.6 machine I just ran yum update. In the update
was an upgrade from the 340.XX Nvidia package to the 346.XX package.
Hrmmm? I'm thinking this is not a good idea but, since this is just a
test system any way, I let it run. Sure enough I was right. Dmesg says
that my video is supported by the 340.XX driver, not the 346.XX driver.
It's not happy cause it can't find a supported GPU.

MP3 streaming from icecast2 -> WMP
Anyone conceive of any reason why I should have a stream that
RealPlayer and iTunes have no problem with, but MP9 refuses to play:
just sits there dumbly having loaded the .m3u that points to it,
ignoring the play button?

Samba-3.0-alpha9 compilation problems
...mpaq Unix (4.0g) system, using the
stock C compiler, but also have access to a Linux (2.2.18) system,
with Gcc-2.7.2.3 on which I can work. Ultimately, I'd like to have
Samba running on the DEC system, though.
I've been atempting to configure with Kerberos, SSL, Syslog, Quotas, and
Utmp (hrmmm... perhaps if I trim down the configuration, to see which
of these cause problems... more on that later), and so far on both
systems I'm having different problems getting a successful compilation.
On the DEC system, so far, I seem to be having problems with the OpenSSL
include files (these h...

Dom0 won''t come up, Fedora 9
Trying to get Xen going on Fedora 9. Xen was installed from the
distro RPMs. Xen version is 3.2.0 and the linux-xen version is
2.6.25.3.
Xen seems to come up fine, but the system just hangs at the
point where booting of Dom0 should start. There is absolutely
no output from Dom0.
I configured Xen to log to a serial port and captured the output
below. Any suggestions on how to continue

VirtualBox on XEN DomU
Hi,
although it is primarily a VirtualBox problem, but maybe someone knows
the answer here.
I read that it is not possible to run vbox on dom0.
http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2383
Is it possible to run it on domU?
Thanks,
Miklos

how to configure iax account for iaxmodem?
Hi,
I'm running asterisk 1.2.1 and started to play with iaxmodem 0.0.7
running on the same box.
I wonder how to setup the iax account correctly so that I may
initiate outbound calls via iaxmodem?
registration upon iaxmodem startup is okay and I can direct calls to it.

Virtual Servers
Maybe a little off-topic - but I hope not too much.
Looking for some insight on setting up Dovecot under a virtual server.
In particular, I use VirtualBox - and at the moment, Ubuntu Linux.
Initial questions on configuration:
Caching. It seems to me - and I'm probably wrong - that running a Linux
in a VM on a Linux host, there would be a duplication of caching. That
is, the host

Icecast2 log and yp behaviour
Some of you may have seen my post to the vorbis list regarding the new
Virgin Radio streams using Ogg Vorbis, ices2 and icecast2.
Anyway, I have a couple of techy enquiries about the icecast2 server.
Firstly, I want to rotate the icecast2 logs at midnight (i.e. create a new
access.log file for each day). Normally I would expect to be able to move
the existing log file and then send a killall

Sipura 2100 and Asterisk and Fax
...ng gain levels...going as low as -12 and as high
as +12. No success. I tried all of the 600 and 900 impedance settings.
No success. Finally, I thought to myself...."maybe it's timing? Maybe I
need to put Asterisk on a faster machine since it's only on an old PPro
system circa 1998. Hrmmmm. So I installed on an idle PIII that was in
the rack.
This a.m. I switched over to using the faster Asterisk setup and
started running the same fax tests (BTW, I'm using free faxback systems
to test inbound faxes, pretty handy. Go google for them!). Started with
outbound. Sixtel was still...

Defunct processes w/ v1.2.1
I have limited information at the moment (currently distracted by other
projects) but I'm hoping that someone has already found and solved this
problem.
I have a v1.2.1 installed on my development box waiting for me to tinker
with the configuration. On several occasions, I have noticed that all
the dovecot processes are listed as "defunct". I don't recall seeing

No noht?
Am I correct in reading the code that there is no "noht"
(turn off hyperthreading) option in Xen (except in powerpc)?
This was a surprise to me as I've seen it documented in
various places and I recently suggested it as a diagnostic
to a customer.

Samba - Problem Connecting PCs
Hi,
I want to setup Samba as a new PDC. I followed the instructions on IBM's
site (http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/esdd/tutorials/samba/index.html)
The problem I currently have is that Windows 9X boxes can't connect to the
Mandrake 9.1 Bamboo box.
However, I can make connections on localhost to localhost using smbclient
//localhost/share -U username
I've tried a couple of different

Can I trust ZFS?
Hey folks,
I guess this is an odd question to be asking here, but I could do with some feedback from anybody who''s actually using ZFS in anger.
I''m about to go live with ZFS in our company on a new fileserver, but I have some real concerns about whether I can really trust ZFS to keep my data alive if things go wrong. This is a big step for us, we''re a 100% windows
