Unix ADS group membership or vice versa
...problems.
What I'd like to do is set up some of my local Unix accounts as members of
ADS groups. Is this possible with Samba? If not, would it be possible to
make an ADS account a member of a local Unix group?
I'm running Samba 3.0.22 that comes with Ubuntu 6.06.
Thanks in advance!

Does the RPM for RH9 know about TCL/Tk
Sorry for the probable repeat post but I can only search the list up to
2002 (is there a better way?). I am using the RH9 RPM from CRAN but
packages like AnalyzeFMRI say that tcltk is not found. Do I need to do
more to get Tk GUIs working on RH9 or does the RPM not have tcltk support
built in (should I compile from source). Thanks in advance.
Take care.

failed assertion in 1.1.8: istream.c: line 81
Hello,
We're having a problem in Dovecot 1.1.8 with a failed assertion on
certain mbox format mailboxes. It happens both with deliver when it
attempts to delier to the mailbox, and with IMAP connections for the
affected box (though I'm not sure what they're doing at the time).

This is on FreeBSD 6.2, without any nfs. The IMAP client is Squirrel

normality test for large sample sizes
I was wondering if it was possible to do a normality test on a very
large sample dataset. It is approx. 160,000 residual estimates from
meshes modelling the brain surfaces of 50 subjects (25 patients).
shapiro.test only works with at most 5000 points. Are there issues with
very large samples sizes that I should be aware of?
Cheers,

Image processing and analysis with R
Hello everyone,
I'm working in a project to create an special analysis about visualization in some animals and its behaviour, through checking eye movement. The point is this is very important to get data from the image as a resume of what this animal sees. I think an RGB histogram like photoshop does, but I need to get the data from this histogram analysis and I was wondering about using R

[Windows Media Player]
Greetings winers,
I have resorted to wine for one reason, I found an ASF stream avifile will
not play. I still believe it is a problem with the streams format but since
it does work on Windows Media Player on a Windows box, I thought to give it a
try. I installed wine as fake_windows and downloaded mpfull.exe from M$. It
installed fine. I set the debugger and ran different incantations of the
basic wine mplayer2.exe.
Going with information I gathered from this lists archives and the news
group, I changed quartz.dll to &qu...

possible packet forwarding or routing problem
Hi. I have a system with two network cards -- eth0 is a public ip
address and eth1 is on an internal network. Now I have all the packet
forwards enabled, and there is a route from eth1 to the internal
network, but if a computer on the internal network sets his gateway to
the box, he can''t traceroute past the box to the internet. There
are no iptable rules yet.
Here is the routing

Personal Firewalls
Hello,
Our ISP provides a firewall and NAT services for our Intranet.
However, within the Intranet, there appear to be personal firewalls
around some anonymous PCs. The IP addresses of these PCs can
be detected by our network monitoring tool.
The identity of the user however remains anonymous.
Are there any tools that can be used to penetrate the personal firewall
and reveal the identity of the

[Bridge] Misbehaving bridge...
I'm trying to bridge a wired network and a wireless network, but I'm
having some trouble. No traffic seems to be passing through the
bridge. When I issue a "showmacs" command to brctl, I am able to see
MAC addresses from both networks. I am also able to ping both networks
from the bridge machine. When I issue a "showstp" command to brctl, the
wireless access
