For the 2nd problem, on node 5, I tried the following: $ rmdir hotbackup rmdir: `hotbackup': Directory not empty $ ls -ldi hotbackup/ 266133504 drwxr-xr-x 1 oracle dba 131072 Dec 14 15:46 hotbackup/ Now this folder is back! very strange OCFSv1 problems
...TER". My question is: Is this a serious problem? Is it Ok to ignore this message? Another problem is that I created some sub-folders on one node (db1), and 4 nodes (db1,db2,db3,db4) can see these directories, but db5 node just could not see those folders. On node 5: $ ls -di /oradata/data15/hotbackup/ 162848768 /oradata/data15/hotbackup/ On node 4: ls -di /oradata/data15/hotbackup/ 266133504 /oradata/data15/hotbackup/ On node 3: $ ls -di /oradata/data15/hotbackup/ 266133504 /oradata/data15/hotbackup/ On node 2: $ ls -di /oradata/data15/hotbackup/ 266133504 /oradata/data15/hotbackup/ On node...

What could cause slow down betwen OCFS2 1.2.9 and 1.4.4
We upgraded our production database cluster (6 node) from EL4 Update 5 to EL5 Update 5, including upgrading OCFS2 from 1.2.9 to 1.4.4. We are now noticing slowdown of batch jobs in Oracle, while hotbackup runs faster. One thing we saw is that journal mode changed from write-back to ordered, as we don't specify journal mode during mount. Oracle sees this as slowdown based on higher IO latency, going from 6-8ms to 13-15ms for single block IO. Total IO throughput has dropped. Can this be caused b...

Backup Member Server
Hello, Can someone point me to documentation on how to best backup a samba member server? I see the wiki currently does not contain one. Is it as simple as backup all shared folders with rysnc or similar that will preserve ACLS along with the smb.conf? I'm currently relying on a raid solution. Thanks. -- -James

backup script problem with samba 4.0.10
Hi dear list members It's about 10 months that we have setup our samba 4.0.10 and using it as the only domain controller and LDAP server (please note that our server's hardware crashed 10 months ago and we did restore a bit old backups and rejoin all computers to the domain). To backup the samba database, I stop samba service at 2:00 AM every night and backup using samba_backup script

Backup methods for an Oracle DB
Hi, I've been testing different methods and I'd like to have some advice. I want to perform a cold backup once a week on the Oracle DB, and put it on tape. I'm using EMC Networker for backup software, and I am not too at ease with the fact of doing eveything with Networker, because if there is a problem with the backup, the Oracle DB might not come up after the backup run. So
