MSDFS redirection WinXP SP2
I am currently having problems accesing our samba msdfs shares from
Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 and WinXP SP1 seem unaffected. I have
attached the smb.conf and the exports files that define the shares.
Running ethereal on the different clients seems to point to the fact
that XP SP2 no longer seems to be using the netbios-ssn (139) port. for

Confusing behavior of hosts allow/hosts deny in Samba 3.0.28/3.2.4
I saw some unexpected behavior in the interaction of hosts allow and
hosts deny on Samba 3.0.28. I built Samba 3.2.4 just to be sure it
wasn't something that had been fixed. I saw the same behavior.
I'm not sure if it is a bug or a failure on my part to
understand the documentation or misleading documentation.
If I have a share defined as

Host ... is being updated before previous update had finished
We just had a bunch of backend boxes go down due to a DDoS in our director
cluster. When the DDoS died down, our director ring was a mess.
Each box had thousands (and hundreds per second, which is a bit much) of
log lines like the following:

host allow
Hi,
We want to restrict acces to the shares on our samba server using "hosts
allow".
Can I get this to work with clients who have dynamic IP addresses and
don't have revers DNS lookup ?
Best regards,

tinc Digest, Vol 123, Issue 11
Hi,
Thank you Guus,
I think the /16 solution is the easier to apply so I modified my tinc-up in
host A to be like
#!/bin/sh
ifconfig $INTERFACE 192.168.10.1 netmask 255.255.0.0
a route -a from HOST A shows:

Relationships between models.
Hi All,
I think Im having a mental block here. For some reason I just cant get
my head round relationships.
What I have is the following.
4 tables
1) Hosts
2) Software
3) OperatingSystem
4) Company
In my terms (which are most likely wrong) a company can have lots of
hosts, a host has lots of software, a host has one operating system.
So should my models have the following relations in them?

Is it mandatory to generate host keys on the target host, or can they be generated on another host and transfer to thetarget host
Hello,
My question in 2 words is the following:
Is it mandatory to generate host keys on the target host, or can they be
generated on another host and transfer to thetarget host ?
If my question is not clear here is an example...
I need to install host keys on a host server.
I imagine the usual way is to launch the following command locally on the
host server .
# ssh-keygen -t rsa1

How to disable dnsmasq from starting automatically with libvirtd
Hi.
I have a machine with a local DHCP server and a couple of virtual networks and
I've configured the server for each virtual interface, so that I would be able
to install VMs on the corresponding subnets using PXE.
The problem is that the two DHCP servers (my local server and dnsmasq) are
conflicting with each other causing the boot process to either fails or takes
ages untill a VM can

CentOS 6 kvm disk write performance
I have 2 similar servers. Since upgrading one from CentOS 5.5 to 6, disk
write performance in kvm guest VMs is much worse.
There are many, many posts about optimising kvm, many mentioning disk
performance in CentOS 5 vs 6. I've tried various changes to speed up
write performance, but northing's made a significant difference so far:
- Install virtio disk drivers in guest
- update the

Intermittent Internal Error Signal 11 with 3.0.24
Hi Samba list,
We're experiencing some issues with our Samba 3.0.24

[PATCH matahari] Refactored the Host agent.
Replaced the previous HostWrapper class with the new HostAgent class,
which more closely resembles the style of the ProcessorsAgent class.
Deleted the HostWrapper class entirely.
Refactored the daemon entry point to reduce the number of methods
invoked in order to start or stop the HostAgent instance. Moved the
NICWrapper's setupQMFObject method from private to public so that it can

mysterious crash of a particular worker
Hi,
I am using the latest checkout from backgroundrb release 1.0.1. I
have a worker called status_checker that periodically (every minute)
checks the status of certain hosts over the network. It works fine at
the beginning but after a while the worker will mysteriously
disappear and stop working. I have other workers running but they do
not disappear like this worker does.

ctdb error after upgrade to 4.12.10
Dear Jeremy,
thanks for your reply.
I assume I load the the debug symbols by passing something in the
[global] section?
I now changed back to a fuse_mount to get my colleagues back to work again.
Tomorrow at 17 CEST I can add a test share with vfs_glusterfs to test it.
