New to Samba
...fairly large Active Directory. I woldn't mind opening up Samba to do more chores in my domain but not if I can't get it going. What would be the best reference book. Sorry to ask so many questions but my Google searches did not get me to-the-point info that I need. Thanks for any help Gary Hostetler

New to Samba, need help
I have compiled and install samba 3 from source. The services start and I can smbclient localhost etc. just fine and I can get a list of the computers in my active directory with that command. When I do a wbinfo -u I get "error looking up domain users." My smb.conf file has security = ads, my realm is NCCVT.K12.DE.US, I have encrypt passwords etc. Any idea where to start looking?

incompatibility between roaming profiles and winxp clients that didn't create them
...a ton of roaming profiled related posts, but I haven't seen anything yet that seems to describe this particular problem. My apologies if there's a thread that deals with this - just point me at it if that's the case. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, David Hostetler

net ads join / kinit /.conf syntax
Hi. HELP! I read: :-) http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/domain-member.html#domain-member-server (Which notes, "This is a rough guide to setting up Samba-3 with Kerberos authentication against a Windows 200x KDC. A familiarity with Kerberos is assumed." Is there "A guide to familiarity with Kerberos as a primer for Samba configuration" somewhere?) :-) This thread

Unable to join ADS domain
I've installed Samba 3.0.2 (from the source) on a SuSE 8.2 system with MIT Kerberos 1.3.1 (I uninstalled the Heimdal code) and the OpenLDAP 2.1.27 development libraries installed on it. I want to make this system a domain member of a Win2K native-mode ADS domain but can't get "net ads join" to work. I've run "kinit myid@MYDOMAIN.COM" and I get at ticket, but when

Can't get winbind to start
I compiled the latest samba 3 with --winbind but I get error failed when I try to start it. I don't even get a log file to look at. It looked like I joined our AD domain because it asked me for a password and didn't complain like it usually does. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Gary
