Variable interpolation in class parameters
Hi, In class parameters, things like x="x", y="y${x}" don''t always evaluate right (y="yx"), seems random. I''m using 2.7.1 class test1( $servicex = "sonar", $logfoldera = "${homex}/logs", $logfoldere = "${homey}/logs", $logfolderh = "${homez}/logs", $logfolder = "${homex}/logs", $homex = "/var/${servicex}", $homey = "/var/${servicex}", $homez = "/var/${servicex}") { notice($home...

Redhat ACL support
Hi, I'm trying to setup a RedHat 8 fileserver, it must work seamlessly within our 2000/NT network. After some research, I believe the first thing I need to do is install ACL support. I tried doing this once, didn't go well, had to reinstall RedHat. What files do I need and from where, to install ACL support for RedHat 8?

Has anybody got ACL to work w/ debian, winbindd in a w2k mixed domain?
Im seriously thinking about changing dist. due to acl won't work as they should with debian woody. Ppl also tell me this is because of some bug in debian. So, as the subject says, anybody got acl to work w/ debian 3, winbindd in a domain? If not, hello redhat.. ACLs with samba
Hi- I am experiencing some odd behavior with ACLs with winbindd using Samba 2.6 on Debian Woody (kernel version 2.4.18). 1. I am unable to alter permissions from Win2K clients using the Properties->Security interface. Is this normal? I get the "Unable to save Permission Changes on new Folder. Access is denied." message. This occurs with all accounts, both privileged and

Searching for Doku Samba with LDAP
Hy * I'm searching for Doku acting as an PDC in an Windows environment. I was able to set up the Ldap-Directory itself, storing the Users in the Directory, this all is working. But was not able to let the Workstations join the Domain. Here i don't find Dokumentation about it. Can anyone send me links about Dokumentation about LDAP and Samba, acting as an PDC. Thank you very much

ACL: some maybe stupid questions
Hi. I want to use ACL on my RH-9.0 box (x86), so I got ext3 ACL patch from http://acl.bestbits.at/ and tried to apply it to the kernel that ships with RH (2.4.20-8). The patching fails on some vm file so I got a vanila kernel 2.4.20, apply the patch and compile it. This works fine. Also RH-9.0 precompiled Samba 2.2.7 works fine with ACL. I connected to my share with WinXP and do some testing

Samba 3 + PDC + LDAP machine accounts
Hiya all, this should hopefully be a simple question. I've noticed that their is a setting: ldap machine suffix Allowing you to put all the machine accounts in a different tree in your ldap directory (which is a definate plus). However, I note, that it is almost impossible to do so. Has anyone done this (eg had machines in ou=Machines,dc=domain,dc=com and people in ou=People,dc=domain,dc=com)?

samba-ldap-debian
Hi all, I'm pretty new with all this ... but I know that you can configure samba with the ldap module by doing : ./configure --with-ldap But how do you proceed with apt from Debian as the only module which concerns samba is : apt-get install samba. it is probably a small silly question but thanx for your help anyway...

DID IT! - Samba 2.2.8a+LDAP+PDC
I am so stoked I just had to share this with y'all. I just "SEAMLESSLY" migrated all of my machines and users over to my new Gentoo Linux Server. I even kept the same: domain name and old PDC NetBios name. The trickiest part was getting all of the users to keep their same profile, but I managed that by cloning the RID and Lanman/NT hashes for the user accounts. Free at last! #

ACL permissions with XP problem
Wondering if anyone can help... here is my setup: RedHat 7.3 with XFS (using the XFS install disk) After installation I'd downloaded 2.2.7 src rpm from redhat and rebuilt it with the --with-acl-support option in the samba.spec file then upgraded the resulting rpm files I've added the machine accounts and made root a smb user I can log in successfully(after applying the xp registry hack),

RE:swat in samba-2.2.7
.... no > checking for __facl... no > checking whether to support ACLs... no I think you're missing acl-dev. Furthermore you need to "activate" ACL in Debian's Samba-packages by hand. I described what I did to get ACL with Samba (and XFS as the filesystem) working here: http://homex.subnet.at/~max/comp-12_xfs.php Hope this helps. Changing ownership of a file or folder from within windows?
Hi everyone, I have a Redhat 8 server running samba 2.2.8a and have configured samba to use winbind so that I can control access to the file shares using user and group accounts that have been set up in our windows NT domain. This all works fine on the shares I set up from within the smb.conf file. Windows 2000 users can access the shares just by logging into our domain. But what I would
