"Full name" environment variable?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi all,
I managed to write a smb.conf so that the User Manager for Domains (NT
Tool) can add users to the domain without any errors, but I don't know
how the full name field (that is obtained from /etc/passwd) can be
used .
%$(ENVVAR) sounds to me like the right way to go, but I'm not an expert.
I haven't found anything in that

Defining "trusted" hosts/nets on a single interface system
...REJECT.
Now at home I have my trusted 192.168.174.240/29 subnet which hosts my
very trusted 192.168.174.242 host and I would like to accept quite a few
protocols coming from that node/subnet (ftp clients and windows printer
sharing amongst others).
I therefore tried defining a new ZONE called HomeLan and then a new
"Zone Hosts" for zone HomeLan on eth0 with 192.168.174.240/29.
I then defined a new default policy with source HomeLan, dest Firewall
Policy ACCEPT and placed it right under the first entry (FW->Net Accept)
Now if I try an ftp from 192.168.174.242 to my firewall I ge...

Howto route through
Hello list,
I''m having a little trouble imagining a setup I''ll soon have.
I am in the process of getting a routed /28 to my homeLAN. What I want
to do is to put a linux box in front of the lan to filter some of the
unneeded and potential dangerous ports. Now the box has 2 nics, one for
the inside one for the outside.
How should I go on to setup those NICs when
a) the PCs in the net should have their official IP address from...

DTMF
I am trying to connect to a vocal server from an asterisk server. A call
is received via iax2 to my asterisk server. I then initiate a SIP
connection to the vocal server. everything works great except dtmf
doesnt work. A cisco 5300 can connect to this vocal server and do dtmf
without a problem. I have my dtmf set to rfc2833 in the general section
of the sip.conf . I can confirm that the

The funny thing about it is that there is no printer connected to the

be undeleted by the way, too many dependencies.

SOLVED: Re: Desktop: After yum update and power off, cannot boot new Kernel

>
SOLUTION: I Googled for "starting udev". One of the possible solutions
suggested was to add "acpi=off" at the end of the line for that Kernel. I
did that, after powering the box off and then back on, and it is working:
[lanny at dell2400 ~]$ uname -a
Linux dell2400.homelan 2.6.18-92.1.1.el5 #1 SMP Sat Jun 21 19:04:27 EDT 2008
i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Which configuration file do I edit, to make that change? TIA! Lanny

Feedback: DNS workaround Samba 4 vs own zone files
...d a closer look into samba 4 last
weeks/days.
I am administrating some private home LANs mostly driven by one low
cost/consuming servers ubuntu/debian (DHCP, DNS, LAMP and samba) for
some of my friends.
I prefer a setup incl.:
- isc-dhcp with fixed MAC->IP for hardware fix belonging to the
HOMELAN and a small (10 IPs) dyn. range for visitors
- bind9 with manually maintained db. zone files - nothing fancy
authorative for local net, caching or forwarding to ISP otherwise
... just some CNAME records to enable that the browser can sparate
credentials for different services running on sam...

imap-login hangs after receiving revoked SSL certificate
Good time of the day!
My English is not very good, excuse me if I said something wrong.
I use dovecot-2.1.16 on Gentoo Linux amd64.
I need to setup dovecot (imap and pop3) for SSL and non-SSL connection
simultaneously. For SSL connections client must submit a valid SSL
certificate. Now SSL part of dovecot.conf looks like this:

"yum update" did not update kernel on one box
This morning, I did "yum update" on my wife's box. It did not update the
kernel. I ran the command again, and there is a response that no updates
are available. Her box is a Compaq Evo D300v Celeron. During the past
couple of days, when I did "yum update", on my daughters box and mine
(Dell Dimensions), the kernel was updated and in the GRUB menus now,
there are two (2)

SFQ latency
Anyone notices that using sfq qdisc adds latency compared to pfifo?
With "sfq perturb 10" ping latency is around 100-120ms, while with "pfifo
limit 3" drops to ~10-30ms (qdiscs belong to htb class).
I''m missing something or is this expected?
