Hiting a limit to the number of connections
I am running Irix 6.5.12 and samba version 2.2.1 and am getting the following error message when trying to log onto a windows machine that has a samba mount mapped. System error 71 has occurred. No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept. Any help would be appreciated as I am a newbie where samba

SIGUSR1 or SIGINT error
Howdy, We occassionally get the following error when running our nightly backups: rsync error: received SIGUSR1 or SIGINT (code 20) at rsync.c(229) This happens more on one or two machines than on any of the others. We've looked high and low to see if we're mistakenly sending these signals, but nothing is that we can find. Does anyone know what this might be from? Is it the server

repeated measures ANOVA - among group differences
I have data on the proportion of clutches experiencing different fates (e.g., 4 different sources of mortality) for 5 months . I need to test 1) if the overall proportion of these different fates is different over the entire study and 2) to see if there are monthly differences within (and among) fate types. Thus, I am pretty sure this is an RM analysis -( I measure the same quadrats each month).

about nmap
Dear all! Last evening I've noticed that my 5.2 box had strange result about nmap search. One port is randomly open when I look from user account. From root everything looks as expected. The comp is most time out of internet. The last thing was adding "expect" package. I am not paniced, could be hiting... Or something in "expect" package... It is random port from 53000 to

Can rails cache a table?
We have a few tables that do not change, unless something big happens which will only happen when it is time to deploy. Is there a way to get Rails to cache the contents of these tables? We can''t just go to config files or not DB models for reasons I won''t get into. Thanks, Dave -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Follow-up to Reply: Overdispersion with binomial distribution
THANKS so very much for your help (previous and future!). I have a two follow-up questions. 1) You say that dispersion = 1 by definition ....dispersion changes from 1 to 13.5 when I go from binomial to quasibinomial....does this suggest that I should use the binomial? i.e., is the dispersion factor more important that the 2) Is there a cutoff for too much overdispersion - mine seems to be

logistic regression
Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this turns out to be more a statistical question than one specifically about R - but would greatly appreciate your advice anyway. I've been using a logistic regression model to look at the relationship between a binary outcome (say, the odds of picking n white balls from a bag containing m balls in total) and a variety of other binary parameters: _________________________________________________________________ > a.fit <- glm (data=a, formula=cbind(WHITE,ALL-WHITE)~A*B*C*D, > family=binomial(link="logit")) > summary(a.fit) glm(fo...

ashift and vdevs
zdb -C shows an shift value on each vdev in my pool, I was just wondering if it is vdev specific, or pool wide. Google didn''t seem to know. I''m considering a mixed pool with some "advanced format" (4KB sector) drives, and some normal 512B sector drives, and was wondering if the ashift can be set per vdev, or only per pool. Theoretically, this would save me some size on

Sentry plugin causing migration to fail
I have an application that uses the Sentry plug-in. I am using Sentry on my Users model for encrypting passwords. It works fine inside the application, but whenever I call User.create in my migration (in order to set-up a default user) I get the following error when I run the migrations: rake aborted! undefined method `symmetrically_encrypts'' for User:Class Has anyone experienced this
