fsck failing to notice that the block device was pulled out from under it?
Hello,
tl;dr: it seems like fsck fails to notice when the block device
disappears from under it.
I have the following setup:
* external USB disk
* a partition with LUKS in it
* ext4 filesystem inside the LUKS block device
While doing backups to it I noticed that after some time backups would
fail with an error (failed to write, ).
In the following log I'm attaching the disk, enabling LUKS

scrollbars and dragable
Hello,
I am new at script.aculo.us and it seem''s to be a very poverfull
animation framework.
I need to move a div around on the screen with javascript. So far I
see the solution with script.aculo.us is to use a dragable object.
Now I have a problem. My div contains scrollbars with css: overflow:
auto. When I use the IE6 the scrollbar hangs often :-)
My div looks like this:

help with hier.part
R-users,
Attached is the file (SR_use2.txt) I'd like to include and includes
column headers. nat_est is the response variable and is the number of
species at a particular point. The other variables are the explanatory
vars (vark, var2, var1, UK, U2, U1, GK, G2, G1, PK, P2, P1).
Here is Walsh's sample code for hier.part:

env <- urbanwq[,2,8]

hier.part
Hi everyone,
A beguinner question.
- How shall i import 9 different ascii (created from a gis layer (arcmap
grid)) into R to create a single dataframe for using in hier.part?
Should i use read.table, then turn each created object into a single vector
using unlist and finally use data.frame to joint all the vectors into a
unique data frame (xcan in the usage of hier.part) ?
I´ve been trying to

hier.part function???
Hello R-team
I´ve got a question concerning the hierarchical partitioning function. If the variables of a model fitted with glm (binomial)show a high joint effect, does this necessarily only mean, that these variables are highly correlated and therefor the model fitting was not optimal, or can it also be, that a high joint contribution means, that the relevant variables only show there full

Hello,
I have a long list of x-, y- and z-data and try to generate a heatmap.
Obviously there are several data with identical x- and y-values. I get
the following error message:
Error in interp.old(x, y, z, xo = xo, yo = yo, ncp = 0, extrap = extrap, :

Unfortunately there seems no help screen on "duplicate". I'd prefer

Running Asterisk on VMware ESX
...I don't expect to need to use any special hardware, just a sip trunk over our broadband connection. We have about 150 phones at present. Is ESX a viable platform for us? And second, what is the recommended virtual configuration (mem, cpu, etc.)? Any other considerations?
Thanks,

Step-by-step guide for PowerPoint under wine?
Dear All,
is there a step-by-step guide on how to install
PowerPoint 2000 with wine (I'm running PhotoShop 3 and
UltraEdit with it, perfectly !)
System: SuSE Personal 9.1, wine -version is

I tried to start the install with 'wine
/path/to/CD-ROM/setup.exe', it takes forever and
finally it returns with 'file not found'.
The files are all there, expect that on the

Suse 9.3 boot problem
Hi there
I got Suse 9.3 on a raid 1 (md0 :boot and root and md1
home)
When I try to get the xen kernel booted, the process
goes up to a certain point and then reboots
I got two problems:
1) Since I used default suse parameters I would assume
all my settings should be OK, so why does it not boot?
2) When booting and getting to the reboot point, it
holds the messages only for one second. How can

try-error within for loop
Dear all,
I run a loop wrapped in try(), and for each of the rows where
"try-error" is true I want to fill that row with NA (at the moment it is
omitted). So I would expect to get a dataframe with 1000 rows some of
which would be empty, but instead I get a dataframe with 995 rows. In
this case missing 5 rows were omitted.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Olga
