New problem, new thread (I think)
Greets all;
I was just booted to mdv-2010-x64 where I found my lack of sound problems.
Whoopy ding...
But when I rebooted to fedora, now the driver cannot disconnect and gain
access to the ups.
I installed the 52-nut udev file in /etc/udev.d, and it reads that it should
setup /dev/hiddev0 like this and with 0664 perms when it finds that ups:
crw-rw-r-- 1 root nut 180, 0 2010-01-03 20:51 /dev/hiddev0
where hiddev0 is the ups port.
But now the usbdrvctl, using usbhid-ups as the driver, reports:
[root at coyote etc]# upsdrvctl start

But I don't know how to progress from here. I have used the following
commands:
mkdir /dev/usb
mkdir /dev/usb/hid
mknod /dev/usb/hid/hiddev0 c 180 96
mknod /dev/usb/hid/hiddev1 c 180 97
mknod /dev/usb/hid/hiddev2 c 180 98
mknod /dev/usb/hid/hiddev3 c 180 99
However, I'm not sure how to check that there is a link between hiddev0
and the USB device that's registering above.

Belkin F6H650 on USB port
Hi,
is there a way to use my Belkin F6H650 on the USB port?
I already installed usbhid-support, but neither the hidups worked (reports
"/dev/usb/hiddev0 is not a UPS") nor genericups with upstype=7 and the
hiddev set as device ("ioctl TIOCMSET: Invalid argument") worked.
I have installed the debian sarge package of nut 2.0.1 (2.0.1-4)

APC Question...

I know my system can SEE the UPS, as DMESG shows this:

I can see an entry in /dev/usb called hiddev0
I have updated my ups.conf file as follows:
[apc]
driver = newhidups
port = /dev/usb/hiddev0
desc = "APC Back-UPS ES 650"
Note, that port used to be set to auto, but in deperation, I hardcoded it..

Copied the drivers from the trunk sub-directory to the Debian 2.0.5 package

That seems to have given me some partial success.

nut and megatec_usb
ut 2.4.1 works with megatec_usb driver. It tries to interact with a
device in /dev/bus/usb/X/Y, but there are root:root 664 access rights.
When I try to set port /dev/hiddev0 with write access in config
file, in strace there are no records about accessing /dev/hiddev, but
still only /dev/bus/usb/X/Y
How to explain such a behavior?

HP T1000 UPS Upadet & help with using under knoppix
...ld re-master cd.
Boot from knoppix live cd and get these problems (on same PC as
knoppix hdd install):
Upsdrvctl start
After a few minutes I get an error of:
Startup timer elapsed, continuing?..
At this stage I find that lsusb now locks up and upon further
investigations I find that /dev/usb/hiddev0 has now been deleted
(including the directory /dev/usb)
Re-boot is necessary.
Run lsusb & HP 1000 is found
Change permissions on /dev/usb to full read/write access & the same to
/dev/usb/hiddev0
Tried:
./lib/nut/usbhid-ups -DDD -u root -a testups
I get a summary of:
