Hi all, i'm a bit confused, can i setup samba (3.0.30) with LDAP backend, and have the "posix/local linux" users and groups reside in the /etc/groups /etc/shadow ect. ect (the standard linux files) ??? or do i have to put them in ldap also ?? (is there a choice?) Greets, Collen

I found an awful lot of them running, much more that what I would expect given the number of Windows PC's on the network. Does anyone know of a way to log when a user logs off using Samba as a PDC. I have Samba 3.0.2a and can log log-ons using root preexec on a share all users mount, however I do not know of a way to log log-offs. We need this data for record keeping purposes. We don't use roaming profiles, so using root postexec is not an option as shares disconnect when not in use. Thanks for any help,

Soon after setup and integration in a network a problem with the shares and MS Word appeared. Any time a file is opened with M$ Word directly from a share and edited it can't be saved.
