RDA and trend surface regression
...rained by geographical locations. I'd like to constrain the RDA by the "extended matrix of geographical coordinates" -ie the matrix of geographical coordinates completed by adding all terms of a cubic trend surface regression- . This is the command I use (package vegan): >rda(Helling ~ x+y+x*y+x^2+y^2+x*y^2+y*x^2+x^3+y^3) where Helling is the matrix of Hellinger-transformed presence/absence data The result returned by R is exactly the same as the one given by: >anova(rda(Helling ~ x+y) Ie the quadratic and cubic terms are not taken into account I hope yo...

Sunflower plot error; how to deal with NA
I suspect the problem stems from the fact that there are a couple of NA values. > sunflowerplot(lastoto, maxear) Error in rep.int(i.multi, number[number > 1]) : invalid number of copies in rep.int() So I used the subset command to get rid of the cases with NA hell<-subset(ChinOtoMayB,is.na(lastoto)==FALSE) Then it worked perfectly sunflowerplot(hell$lastoto, hell$maxear) Is there a method with greater finesse to deal with NA values? In correlations one can state use="complete.obs" But that did not work in sunflowerplot -- Farrel Buchinsky...

To hell with OpenSuse, ditch it and go to Ubuntu
this blog entry http://www.viggie.com/blog/software/opensuse-ubuntu-usage-experience , if credible , would seem to suggest that there is no good reason to choose Suse. I really don't have time for such nonsense, maybe I'll just reinstall as Ubuntu. Also, noticed that GCC was not installed when Suse installed. That's just weird, GCC is part of Linux. And if you try to install GCC,

The outputs that I'm getting, however, are printing out 0's down the colu...

I just want to check and make sure not missing anything. I'm trying to convert a customer away from UW. unfortunately, all of the mailboxes are in MBX format (my own mistake coming back to haunt me). mailutil doesn't seem to do conversions properly. It keeps complaining about an existing copy of /mbox and only if I say to -merge append will the copy proceed. mailsync doesn't

I'm in ADSI hell...
Folks, I am in the process of fighting my way through my first foray into ADSI phones. I have a very nice Aastra 480 from Sayson, purchased through Cylogistics. Very nice phone. However, my experience in configuring ADSI has been pure pain so far, and it's not all working yet... 1) The locking mechanism for these ADSI phones is... baroque? Arcane? Perhaps there is a reason why you would
