Ubuntu 11.04 shutdown Problem
I am using old Xen Rpms which comes with RHEL 5.5 . xen-3.0.3-105.el5. I am running Ubuntu 11.04 Full Virt on this. But after a gap of 2 or 3 days this VM gets shutdown automatically. I have checked the logs there is nothing suspicious.. What can be reason for it..?? Any one has faced same problem?? -- Thanks Vipul Borikar "Our task must be to free ourselves...by widening our circle of

Examples for using xl migrate -s ?
Hi, I must find a way around the way live migration now uses ssh. I tested it and I see high cpu usage by SSH and overall sense of things being slow. My prod systems have a dedicated, fast link for live migration, but with ssh it would be crippled down to a <1Gbit. Does anyone have a working example of how to not use SSH as the transport layer? I guess this is what the -s option is for, but I

Using XL toolstack (Xen) with DRBD
Hello, Currently it seems that the drbd disk type with Xen''s XL toolstack (vs XM) to get the automatic promotion/demotion behavior of drbd devices is not supported. Is there something I can tweak with the block-drbd script to get this to work? Thanks, Chris _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xen.org http://lists.xen.org/xen-users

handling mac addresses and guid''s
Hi, I like Xen''s feature of autogenerating those values if they are not supplied in a config file, but for sake of persistency I want to inherit the once-generated values and reuse them after the first creation of a domU. I found it possible to query the values at runtime using xm list --long but I''m not sure I''m going the most elegant route with that, it would mean

any recent experience combining GlusterFS w/ Xen?
Hi Folks, Anybody have any recent experience building a small cluster that combines GlusterFS and Xen (with bonus points for a Debian environment)? We''re getting ready to shift from a 2-node Xen/Pacemaker/DRBD environment to a 4-node environment - and I''d really like to be able to create/migrate/failover/delete VMs transparently across all 4 nodes. Seems like Gluster might

vif-route issue with HVM domU only
Hi, I seem to have an interesting issue with vif-route. This is after an update to Xen 4.2.1, switching from xm to xl. I have 10 PV domUs on the host and two FreeBSD ones. All the PV domUs are now working nicely. Since FreeBSD has always been just slightly broken as PV I chose a HVM domU for those, but with PV drivers. Those PV drivers all blew up now after the upgrade. I''m now trying

Disk IO tuning
I am using XenServer6, and I need to get performance equal or close to what we get on the hardware, especially with large files. Are there any hints host side or guest side to increase performance. What should I look at? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

xl and vifname
Hello, While using xen 4.1-testing.hg (r23202) I noticed that the ''vifname'' config value is not handled by xl, but is handled by xm. Is there a workaround or patch for this? My firewall and scripts depend on static vifnames. XM works good - it adds multiple interfaces to multiple bridges and configures them appropriately. But with xl it differs -- here only tap devices are

{worker} after :end-time worker freaks out
Hi all, i was using bdrb a while ago and it wasn''t stable enough in version 0.2.1 for doing the job - it loss jobs or did execute only the first one invoked and so on. Now i gave the new version a try and i found a bug at playing around. When i start a worker_method over the normal Unix scheduler bdrb will start as much as possible the worker_method after the :end-time is reached.

Slow uploading with sftp
Hi, I'm observing a nasty and strange behaviour with OpenSSH (SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.7.1p2) on Solaris 8 (Sparc). I searched the FAQ and list archive and I didn't find anything about it. The problem is that uploading through sftp is tremendously slow (~ 0.2KB/s) while downloading is ok (~ 200-300 KB/s), so I'm quite surprised. The machines I tested (client & server) are all in the

xenpm hypercalls support in latest kernels?
Does anyone know what is the latest version of dom0-kernel, that supports fully xenpm hypercalls? I tried from 3.0 to 3.3 with xen-4.1.3, but none of them has xenpm working. On the other hand native kernel cpufreq is OK with all of them. My CPU is Xeon family 6 on PowerEdge 1950 III box. Regards, Dimitar Kazakov

FreeBSD Virtual Server
Hi there, I have been browsing for web hosting and I found some firms (one of them is <http://www.hub.org>) offering 'virtual server hosting using FreeBSD'. They say that virtual server is different from virtual host, for the first is a completely separated enviroment, like a standalone server. I am a newbie on FreeBSD, I search at the archive and Google for this info; and at this
