FYA (for your amusement)
Well, we knew the 'Net was invented solely for cute cat pictures. Now I
have proof that selinux is part of that conspiracy. From dmesg, on one of
my servers:

How can I read date format '02-Jan-02' ?
...om SAS.
It is form of csv, and the date format reads '02-Feb-99'.
I used following code to convert character to date format,
db$dob<-as.Date(db$dob, format="%d-%b-%y").
but it doesn't work, only seems NA.
What's wrong with this code?
Thank you in advance.
Best,

[OT] Overview of Homer installation on Debian Stretch
...s to Homer.
My questions are:
1. What is the simplest available installation option to install Homer on a
dedicated box, this dedicated box gathering data from one or several
Asterisk systems on the same LAN ?
2. Is it possible to centralize data on a remote Postgres/MySQL server
(remote meaning hee Homer server acting as a DB client)
3. Suggestions ?
Cheers

Just wait until people start getting bills for the leasing of Word by the

alternative password database, using ldap instead of , private/smbpasswd
hee hee, jean francois is going to be annoyed. this code is still under
"definite alpha" status, but i really, really wanted to get it in there
asap.
so, the latest cvs checkin adds the ability to use an ldap schema for the
passwords, not that i know what one of those actually is (only kidd...

Computing 'exp(1e3)*0' correctly....
I have some trouble to deal the value of 'NaN'. For example,
> exp(1e3)
[1] Inf
> exp(1e3)*0
[1] NaN
The correct answer should be 0 rather than NaN. I will very appreciate
if anyone can share some technique to get a correct answer.

Re: New Standard/Daylight time-change dates in rhel4u2 butnot centos4.2?
The laws already exist:
Disturbing the peace,
Misappropriation of public funds,
Prohibition on unfunded mandates.
What's lacking is prosecutors, judges, and juries who
see the politicians as getting in the way of the
statesmen and the people.
To drag this back towards On Topic, it seems to me
that the ntp folks might be petitioned to write up and
submit to the Congress, a paper

Virtio Balloon- Can not see the results
with kvm and virtio- would -m 1024 take proceedence over -balloon
virtio? when i use both together, i see memory stay around 1024 MB less on my host side. I know the guest is not taking but a fraction of that ram, so I would expect the virtio balloon to take the majority of the guests ram and hand it back to the host. this is using the free util/command to take snapshots of the host memory.?

Access 97 on Wine 20041019
...comes up just fine,
then a second later, I get an error dialogue box:
Microsoft Access couldn't find the file "C:\windows\system\system.mdw". This
file is required for startup.
Doing a bit of reasearch, I learnt that this file has something to do with
Access's workgroup (tee hee) functions. I tried touching the file and
setting it to 777, also tried copying system.mdw from a "real" Windows
machine, but both of these solutions ends up with an out of memory dialogue
on launch. It's progress though, I got a *different* error. :-)
The single line of Wine outp...

Now change

This makes sure bind9 and ntp are loaded ( when installed) before samba and now samba also waits until all network interfaces are online.
This is how i suggest you should setup your interfaces, but .. hee its your server.. ;-) if you like dhcp setups, thats up 2 you.
and dont forget to change eth if needed.

samba ADDC dns setup? ( this is same for any MS server )
...resolving setup at the same time and since i run it
as is now, i notice much better performance in the complete network, and user noticed it also.
This also forces all registration to go to a single DNS server where it is registered and then replicated to the other servers, which i prefer.
But hee. As mathias says.. its all our own choice.
I noticed it so i mention it and maybe it helps someone.
