Samba hectic behaviour
Hello List.
I am having a very interesting problem with my samba server printer setup.
Some background , the samba server is Suse Enterprise 9 (x86_64 platform) , we are running
samba-3.0.26a-0.7 , with a connection to an openldap and sharing the printers via cupsd .
File sharing is working properly , so it's smooth sailing on that end , but the printing is acting
up .

directly. But I more and more wonder wether AmaViS is even worth it?! It
currently looks to me as if AmaViS is eating LOTS of ressources and it
is very uncomfortable for automated installations if you have to do
dynamic batch changes on the AmaViS configs - sed(1) is your friend but
this hectic escaping and workarrounds is really not sustainable to maintain.
So my question is: Does AmaViS have any advantages compared to the
current setup? I don't seem to find lots of qualified discussions for
this on the net. The AmaViS related articles I found are freaking old.
Would be nice the...

Don't wait on testing results from me
...disappointed, but it seems that I won't be able to get all
the testing results that I wanted for the new vs. old Theora encoders
done this week. I am rather busy with some family matter and we're
also going to be moving from Malaysia back to the US shortly,
God-willing, so things are a bit hectic here. I have done some tests,
so if you just want the raw timings and command-line, I can post
those, otherwise, I will post them whenever things calm down here.

to OpenSolaris 2009.06, and I did upgrade the Dovecot version from
1.1.17 to 1.2.3, but kept the same config. When I point those users
to a port running qmail-popup on another machine (NFS mounting the new
server), they work fine. I'm sure I reverted to 1.1.17 during the
initial hectic days, with no change. Of course, I'm also sure I had a
few of the users test the alternate qmail-popup server, maybe they did
it wrong. :(
Any thoughts? Should I attach compile configs?

Being in the real world rather than in the hectic and unstable 'change
every 6 months Fedora environment', just what are the RHEL/Centos 8
options at this moment? Real users of RHEL/SL/Centos want
1. stability
2. reliability
3. security revisions
4. bug fixes
Many real users lack the time - because time is always finite - to

Thank you very much for getting back to me, I can appreciate it can get hectic,
and I don't wish to appear ungrateful, I wholeheartedly endorse/recommend
dovecot and the company I work for does use paid for OX elsewhere. For my own
part, the platform I manage is > 300,000 mailboxes and dovecot performs

My requirements are:
6-8 fxo
25-50 multi-line hard/soft-phones
mixed Windows/Linux office
Initially, I only need simple telephony features in a pseudo call center
where one/two agents are prime for answering calls from all fxo lines;
but any agent can pick up when things get hectic. Lots of outgoing calls
over these same lines. I also want to eventually integrate fax, e-mail,
etc...
My questions are:
- are there any GPL softphones that can handle 8 lines?
- which hardphone vendors to consider/avoid?
I've been thinking that the live server needs lots of PCI slots; but...
