Kernel:[Hardware Error]: use of vacuum

Also noteworthy: the air moving through a hose can cause a vacuum's hose or attachment to build up a static charge, which is another reason it can be a bad idea to use a vacuum in a computer.

Centos on Dell XPS15
I have a Dell XPS 13 9360, though I am running ubuntu 18.04 on it.? I remember there being a patch to the mainline kernel which addressed many of the wireless problems. I'm not sure if those changes ever made it into the CentOS kernels. Some of the Dell XPS 13's had removable ethernet interfaces while most of the more recent ones had the killer interfaces on the motherboard.? I'm not

A400P + Intel D201GLY2(A) motherboard?
Hello I'd like to build myself an Asterisk server for SOHO use. Intel's D201GLY2 motherboard (http://tinyurl.com/ddarzp) looks like a very good deal, but I'm concerned about two things: 1. Will an A400P (from OpenVox, but supposed to be Digium-compatible http://tinyurl.com/ck6nfu) fit with a PCI riser, or will the CPU heatsink/fan be in the way? I downloaded the PDF from

Asterisk overheating on VIA Epia MSeriesmoth erboard
Is that a bios setting (I don't recall seeing it) or an OS setting? I run a lot of Via C3 machines (they are so nifty) but don't remember seeing this. -----Original Message----- From: Technical Support [mailto:support@ocg.ca] Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 2005 10:43 AM To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion'; shmaltz@gmail.com Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users]

Asterisk overheating on VIA Epia M Series motherboard
Hello I am running Asterisk on SUSE Linux Professional 9.3 on a VIA Epia M Series motherboard - CPU runs at 1GHz. There is no fan - just a large heatsink. Currently system is running off standard IDE hard drive - because I couldn't get astlinux to run with my Digium TDM04B card (only PCI card in system). Strangely I also have the same system also running SUSE Linux running as a file

Using a CentOS 6 Machine as a gateway/router/home server

PCI ethernet card for CentOS
I need to get a second ethernet card for my HP Proliant CentOS server, to attach a LinkSys WRT54GL router to. I see that there are many Realtek RTL8169S gigabit cards going for a song on eBay. Is anyone using one of these under CentOS? Do they work OK? (I used to have a couple of Realtek cards - not gigabit - and they worked fine.) Or does anyone have a strong recommendation for other cards? Any

Asterisk overheating on VIA Epia MSeriesmotherboard
I use them with just the one NIC card. I don't use them as a router so the phones and my gateway are all on the same network. -Jonathan -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Remco Barende Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 2005 4:33 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion

What do you think about this motherboard?
Hello all..... I would like to know if anyone here has had good experience with this Supermicro motherboard.....http://supermicro.com/products/motherboard/P4/E7221/P8SCT.cfm I am thinking about using it in an entry level mail and file server with a 3ware card and 200 GB SATA drives. Cost is a factor here otherwise I would go for an Opteron board instead. JC

Checking fan state
I just replaced my fan in my nc2400. It was a 5hour job. Had to pull EVERYTHING to get to where they have the fan in the thing. Now I want to know if it is working. It is suppose to be thermostatically controlled, and it takes time to heat up. So how can I find out what Centos knows about the system temp and fan state? It was hard to tell if I put the connector in the right way. At least

Re: Prey and OpenGL
Hello again. Since my last post about giving up on Prey I have had to change my graphics card. The cooling fan on my ATI packed up and it was a choice of a new fan/heatsink combination and having to nearly rebuild my pc to allow room for it (nearly the size of my card and over 1 inch thick !) or replacing the card. Since I thought that the fan problem might be the thin end of the wedge and I might

Machine all of a suddens freezes. Any suggestions?
This is a A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard with a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ Processor. It freezes and cannot be accessed from the network. Keyboard/mouse/display, everything just stuck. It had an uptime of 17 days after I re-connected all cables and boards after a similar crash. My feeling is, this must be a hardware related problem. I inspected the logs under /var/log, but nothing.

Anyone using an Intel Atom ?
Just built myself a little test server with an Atom 230 processor in it and am quite impressed with it so-far. Wondering is anyones used one in anger for a VoIP platform? I'm after something with a bit more oomph than the VIAs I'm currently using that I can use in a small box (mini ATX size) without going full-blown Xeons, etc. Cheers, Gordon

diagnosing noise
Though quiet at the moment, my desktop sometimes sometimes makes a noise that I attribute to either a disk or a fan on its last legs. I'm looking for suggestions for distinguishing. For the disk, I expect I should use either hdparm of fsck. Even after reading the man page, I'm not sure how I would use hdparm. If I use fsck, what should I take as evidence of a bad drive? A good drive? Is
