Boot image from hard drive from syslinux initiated by a floppy disk boot
I have been trying to find the information by searching through the
archives and google, so I am sorry if this question has been asked
before I just have not been able to find an answer.
I have a syslinux boot floppy which loads to the boot prompt, I wish to
load a .gz image which is on my hd0 0 by using memdisk as the kernel. I
have tried to kernel memdisk append root=/dev/hd0 0 (also just using
/hd0) initrd=mini.gz and kernel memdisk initrd=/dev/hd0 0/mini.gz and
a multitude of other things to try to accomplish this. But each time it
responds "mini.gz cannot be found.

Cannot boot CentOS 7 VM after updating Host CentOS 7 Kernel
...r boot... it just stops at the grub prompt (a
second VM functions just fine). I have no idea why this problem occurred
and have been unable to fix it. On google I have found several
suggestions as to how to repair grub but so far none have worked. What I
have found so far is this:
grub> ls

grub> ls -l (hd0,1) (hd0,msdos2) (hd0,msdos1)

Useful Info about Dell latitude E5510
...rs.
I have many different Dell model, they all worked well with PXE booting
however not for E5510. I noticed that using "LocalBoot -1 or 0" doesn't
work well. What I did use for Latitude E5510 (Bios A06) was same to
"LOCALBOOT on IBM x3850 X5"
COM32 Chain.c32
Append hd0 0
Not "Append hd0"
It works and boots to local disk without any problems.

Is that true? If I have a system with two disks, where device.map

Bug#599243: xen-utils-4.0: pygrub does not understand grub2 partition types (e.g. (hd0, msdos1) instead of (hd0, 1))
Please apply that patch to squeeze, otherwise you will not be able to
boot even a standard squeeze installation! Since there is no pv-grub in
squeeze I think it's quite important to fix it.
Cheers,

Two Windows 2k8 Server an booting via pxelinux
...system, I can chainload
grub or windows loader, and this is OK.
But in case with two Windows systems, when I installed second system,
the installer added multi boot loader(I think it's called bootmgr),
and then I can't choose the proper OS via syslinux config because
chainloading(append hd0 1, append hd0 2)
is not working (I get the "ntldr is missing" error).
When I try boot from mbr (hd0 0), multi boot loader shows up, and then I
can choose OS manually,
but I really don't know how to choose it automatically(via pxelinux
config file).
I appreciate your help,

pxelinux 5.01 chain.c32 hd0 not working on SmartArray P220i
Hello,
I've been having a problem trying to boot from first hard drive via
pxelinux 5.01 on a HP Proliant server having a SmartArray P220i RAID
controller. On other hardware and VMs that i've tried it works. My config
file looks like this:
label localboot
kernel chain.c32
append hd0
Is this a known issue or has anyone experienced this?
Thanks,
Andrei

help booting iso's?
...em to be official directives on doing that
sort of thing. But nothing I have tried so far will allow me, using
syslinux, to boot the iso dd'd to that partition--regardless of whether I
specify in the syslinux.cfg entry the address of the iso's mbr, or the
partition's location (e.g., hd0, 5).
One point of confusion I have is how to specify the drive that syslinux is
booted from, and thus the one on which the dd'd partition is located: it
being a USB drive rather than the computer's hard drive, perhaps hd0 is
not the correct specifier? Can anyone offer clarification on t...
