Is there a 'vi' mode in R?
Hi, I'm wondering if R provide a vi mode in the command line just like other shells such as bash do. Can somebody let me know? Regards, Peng

I never had that.... But, really, what's the point of dumping many, many lines of data... when it cannot be read? Why not assume that it's going to happen on a normal terminal, and dump no more than 25 80-char lines? So the admin might maybe possibly have a clue as...

How about a VAX 11/782 with two LA120s, one per CPU. :-) There were advantages in hardcopy consoles when dealing with system crashes or boot problems. ISO R-programming docs/refs
...'t understand, and that I stumbled upon in blind scrambles to get my code to work. How can I possible stand by the results of my R scripts if they are the product of sheer guesswork? I even bought the R Reference Manual, vols. 1 and 2, and deeply regret it, since they are nothing other than a hardcopy of the online manual pages[1]. This is no substitute for a reference of the R language and how to program it. Is my impression correct that R is simply not well-documented enough for serious programming? Have I missed a key reference to programming R? To those of you who do a lot of programming...

And the fact that Boostbook knows how to import Doxygen XML output is a killer feature. Having a hardcopy of the Doxygen reference can be really useful. I agree with Chris that at the moment, BoostBook/QuickBook is too hard to set up. I'm certainly not about to use bcp magic and litter my workspace with it. Get it packaged separately and it's a winner, I think. A nice Debian package would d...

I do not love thee, kernel-3.10.0-693.2.2.el7.x86_64
I've been having a lot of issues with video, for example. However, this one... I have a user with a Dell R730. I install kernel and kernel devel, and the rest of the full update, and rebooted. Nope. 100% kernel panic, right around the time it switches root. I even rebuilt the initramfs, nope. And speaking of kernel panics, has *anyone* ever considered that all the data dumped to the console

Samba3, LDAP and FreeBSD 4.8 : need for NSS ?
...password). This Samba3 should be hosted on a FreeBSD 4.8 (ie. pam_ldap can work, I tested it today, but no NSS available). I've read many docs, including the HEAD Samba HOWTO collection, HOWTO from Ignacio Coupeau (worth a read), old one from IdealX (which disapeared last week, I still have a hardcopy), and many others. The OpenLDAP 2.1 is up, with a few accounts populated (with both sambaSamAccount & posixAccount objectclasses). PAM_LDAP auth works. Then comes the integration with Samba. I have not yet began the work of integrating Samba to LDAP (I'm learning LDAP). Here's my quest...

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me with this problem. I’m trying to produce what can be referred to as L’Abbe plots, where a character (my preference is a circle) is plotted at some specified co-ordinates and the size of the character is proportional to a weighting variable. I’ve tried this plot (x, y, type="n") size <- weight/mean(weight) for ( i in 1:length(x) ) { points

Lwd ignored when printing on Windows
Dear R-help, Has anyone notice the problem that, on Windows (NT and XP), when printing a graph using the "File -> Print..." menu in the graphics window to print the graph, that line width seemed to be ignored in the printed output? For example, if I make a plot with plot(1:10, type="l", lwd=5), it looks right on screen, but when printed out using the menu, it looks like

That is definitely true, not a feature I have used yet but I know some libraries (like ASIO) do it to completely document everything that they do not explicitly handle. I suggest reading this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4034314/smbv1-is-not-installed-by-default-in-windows Imo, the longer you wait with samba AD the harder it gets to get things running. You could better spend you time on settting up and migrating to AD the keep putting time in a dying product. But thats my optinion. Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- >

R-beta: adjusting y-axis scale with multiple lines in plot
Hello -- I am plotting multiple densities in a single plot. If the max of a new density (added with 'lines()') is sufficiently larger than that of the one first plotted (using 'plot()'), the new density is cut or trucated off of the figure. Is there a simple way of adjusting the yscale after all lines have been added? Or is the procedure to be used to first estimate all
