Running Fedora under CentOS via systemd-nspawn?
...vitably lead to
conflicts when doing a yum update.
When I upgraded to CentOS 7, I found out that systemd-nspawn is
"chroot on steroids". After figuring it all out, I replicated my
MythTV "container", and things were great.
Now I have a need for a particular piece of software: HandBrake. I
found this site[1] that packages it for both Fedora and CentOS. But
the CentOS version is a little older, as the latest HandBrake requires
gtk3. The latest version is available for Fedora however.
So I thought, what if I could "run" Fedora under systemd-nspawn.
Well, I definitely...

How to merge and cut theora videos, and how to synchronize sound?
Hello. Excuse me in advance for these dumb questions.
I used ffmpeg2theora to convert much videos. Now I would cut and/or merge them. How can I do it?
Furthermore, in many cases the sound was desynchronized - I converted TS mpegs. I tried to add the sync flag with bad effects. How can I manually delay / anticipate sound track?

HandBrakeCLI crashes when converting
Hello!
At first, i want to run the latest HandBrake (version 0.93) on a Mac with Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger).
The problem is, that Handbrake is developed for Mac OS 10.5 (XCode SDK is not compatible to Mac OS 10.4 one).
So i decided to try it with wine/darwine.
Because wine is better supported on Linux and you can get easier newer version (apt-get), i...

FFmpeg's libavcoded
Hi,
I am letting myself known incase someone is interested in this or
already has ideas on the subject.
I would like to add Theora encoding to ffmpeg's libavcodec library.
My goal is to add vorbis / theora / ogm output to Handbrake. Doing
this at the libavcodec level appears to make the most sense as it
would benefit more people.
I have already made a small start. I have the configure & build
scripts for ffmpeg using the correct libraries etc. I am now simply
browsing through the various API docs (for both libavcodec...

DVD NTSC video plays twice as fast when encoded with libtheora
https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/roundup/ffmpeg/issue1197
I had originally encountered this problem using ffmpeg2theora. I
switched to ffmpeg proper in an attempt to identify where the problem
was at, and found that the problem persisted. As a result I had
thought this was a problem with ffmpeg, but the ffmpeg folks seem to
indicate that this is specific to Theora (too much finger pointing I
think.) I

AutoGK issue on OS X
Hello all,
I'm trying to convert a DVD movie from the original DVD to a 700MB AVI file.
Note: This is from a DVD I purchased, I want to convert it for home use, I'm not uploading it anywhere.
I've used MacTheRipper to rip the DVD and I've got a folder containing AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS sub-folders and associated files.
Wine comes into play as I want to use AutoGK (Auto Gordian

Googling this, it appears the error message is related to ffmpeg, but I
don't get any error message with it:

MP4/H.264 codec for Firefox?
Hello,
I am trying to get MP4/H.264 playback in Firefox to work on my CentOS
laptop (for vimeo).
I installed the gstreamer plugins as described here:
https://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/MultimediaOnCentOS7
(No, I did not install Flash, VLC and all the other stuff. I only want
HTML5 MP4 playback..)
I enabled the nux repos. I did install all available gstreamer plugins,
i.e. -good -bad

Everything works well. Got in mind upgrade x264 can effect handbrake and

Impossible to encode this file in sync
Hi all,
I am unable, using ffmpeg2theora 0.26, to encode this mpeg file in
theora without audio/video sync problems :

The file works correctly using vlc or mplayer, but totem has sync
problems for playing it.
For information, it is a TV stream I recorded using :

Strange results encoding with latest ffmpeg2theora-0.24 and playback on Directshow through Winamp
Hi Folks,
First, I would like to thank the eople in development who are doing so much to develope these great video and audio tools.
I use Ogg Vorbis to store most of my music projects in studio and the results are stunning. Quite frankly, in the audio file reduction game, nothing beats Ogg Vorbis and I can personally say this from my own experience. So a huge thank you to the team.

g-frontend to encode multiple files at the same time and g-frontend
creates .ogg extension even with the latest ffmpeg2theora... by the way
is there a way to batch convert many files to ogg theora... handbrake is recommended in many articles, but it is also not usefull for me and couldn't batch convert with it)

Define 6.1 and 7.1 channel mappings
I apologize for the terribly long message, but here goes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, regarding existing tools that I now about.
libavcodec and users (e.g. HandBrake):
- if there are 6 channels or less, the layout is set by the decoder as per the FLAC specification
- if there are more than 6 channels, the layout is not set by the decoder,
and instead the default libavcodec channel layout guess is used
