httpd-access.log parsing and graph construction.

I've used the igraph package, not graph, but was assuming there's some existing functionality to perform these tasks.

colors and palettes and things...
...can pass
these colors into functions instead of having to predefine a bunch of
colors myself or use the predefined colors like terrain.colors(n)?
Are there groups of colors in the colors() that I can group together to
make some nice palettes for drawing barplots, etc?

R CMD check WARNING \usage question

I'm not sure if there's a problem with the \alias section or the \usage section or both sections (I'm assuming this is the case).

created data doesn't remain when split...

when the value of ct for all the records in all the data.frames should be 1,
not NA.
Why is that? Am I missing a step here? I'm running R 1.7.1 on Win2k.

can't get names from vector in nlm calls
...n to get the estimates...
estnew <- nlm( knls, sv2, hessian=TRUE, print.level=1, eqns=system2,
data=kmenta, fitmethod="OLS" )
My question is why can't I simply call names on the vector (sv2) that is
passed into the nlm function to get the parameters?

summary table newbie question

or whatever) for the data.frame. I guess it would be equivalent to like
surf.ls/surf.gls without fitting a trend but that would also allow me to
plot the results graphically in addition to simply printing out the table
using xtable.

weighted 2 or 3 parameter weibull estimation?
...e weights. I can't find any reference to =
weights in the optim function and I'm afraid I'm a little stuck here. =
After I figure out how to include the weights, I'll then need to =

plotting predicted values (lines) over data?
...smooth (which I knew would happen). I've
checked the FAQ,docs and archives and I'm not sure if there's function that
will so what Heut et. al (2004) do with their plfit(). So, is there already
an R function, or process to do this, or will I have to write one?

plotting maps?
I thought I had plotted a map of oregon and washington and overlayed some
points using R. Is that possibe since I can't seem to find the source file I
used or commands for plotting maps and points?

Sweave not found from MikTeX?
...\share\texmf
path in the MikTeX roots (I've ven added the path in the environment
variables ) but to no avail. Is there a trick to getting Sweave installed
correctly when using MikTeX on Windows XP? Do I need to move/copy the
Sweave.sty file to the c:/textmf/?/?/? directory?

Error: unknown identifier {|} in tabular format {|l|c|c|c|}
...hen I run rcmd rd2dvi.sh <package> I get the
results I expect. Does this have something to do with the html (since those
docs don't get created without the --docs=all argument) or the chm
generation process?
I'll remove the | from the formatting for now...

how do I install add on packages?

what's base? And why is the help.search() working when I log on as root. It
doesn't work when I log on as a regular user. I'm using FreeBSD 4.4.

multicolumn sort on dataframe?
...ind( nspr.code, as.numeric(nspr.tpa) ) )
and it seems to work, but I have dataframes that I would like to sort on
using multiple columns (numeric and character). Something like :
newframe <- sort( data=frame, list=c(plot,plant,sp) )
Or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

cygwin tar?
...comes with mingw, yes? I replaced the previous chunk of
code with:
if($WINDOWS) {
## workaround for paths in Cygwin tar

}
which has solved the problem. I just don't know how to get this into the
latest build or release of R?
