PXE boot Centos 4.0beta problems
Has anyone yet tried PXE booting the vmlinuz/initrd.img set from Centos 4.0beta2? I have a pxelinux setup that is booting 3.4 PXE images fine, but the equivalent setup for 4.0beta loads the kernel and then splashes the monitor full of multicolor random characters. Not a good start to an install... Anyone had luck? Any changes for PXE boots known for 4.0? Thanks in advance. -Alan

Hi I want to recompile some RPMs (my own) for x86_64 arch from my i386 compatible build host (because of hardware restriction/funds).Is anyone ever done this ? After a google search, it seems not so easy... i just found this: http://www.speedblue.org/cross_compilation/ but haven't tried it yet (i would have to convert these to RPM first). How is it done for Centos SRPMS rebuilds ? is it a

two *independ* shoutcast listeners
Hi all, I set up a icecast server 2.3.2 with two shoutcast listeners (port 8000 and port 8002). What I have noticed is , if I have only one "DSP" source that stream to the first listener (on port 8001), audio become available on both listener ? Meaning that a player will open with success on http://myhost:8000/stream or http://myhost:8002/stream with the same audio. With two source,

[Centos 5] minimum RAM required to install : 1GB ?
Hi, From the release notes i can read : "Note that the minimum RAM required to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.92 has been raised to 1GB; the recommended RAM is 2GB. If a machine has less than 1GB RAM, the installation process may hang." Is it a joke/mistake ? :-O 1GB !!! I tested installation process with 256M / Celeron 600, seems to work ...) -- Martin

[centos 3.4] e1000 and installation problem
Hello, I install Centos'es from PXE, with vmlinuz and initrd provided by images/pxeboot from the first CD of centos 3.4. The server is a PowerEdge 1850 with two integrated e1000 nic interfaces. So kernel is booting, then it comes to the screen which ask for one nic to do a dhcp query. I choose eth0, dhcp server reply well and then i get an ip address, dns'es, etc. And nothing else

disabling console blanking ?
Hi! Some of my centos's servers (poweredge 850/ centos 4.3) are crashing for any reason, and so i wanna get screen (kernel) output afterward. Problem is when the server is crashed and the screen blanked, a keypress doesn't do anything at all. Here it is what i've tried _from a ssh session_ : - setterm -blank 0 and many combinations. - "noacpi" boot option ... Any ideas ?

how to get erratas's summary and URL with "check-update" ?
Hello, running a "yum check-update" is cool to get a list of packages to update with versions. In addition of that, i'm looking for a way to get for each package, the link to the RH's errata and the severity status in the same report. My idea was to parse output of check-update, and join it with "centos-announce" mailing list subjects to get it. It's pretty

yum configuration files lost while/after updating ?
Hello centOS users, Today i've installed a fresh centos 3.1, and modified the [update] section of my/etc/yum.conf, to point on my own update repository. My update repository (3.1) contains exactly the same content that the official one. Update was successful but now /etc/yum.conf is missing :( Here it is what i've noticed during the update process: # cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS
