DHCP Updates to DNS - Multiple Entries with Same IP
Thank you to Rowland, L.P.H. van Belle, the entire samba team, and others that help. I've been running samba in our fire department for over a year. I'm running a self compiled samba version 4.11.9, bind version 9.11.3, BIND9_DLZ, isc-dhcp-server version 4.3.5 with fail over (between the 2 DC's) on Ubuntu 18.04 on Odroid N2 aarch64. I have 2 identical DC's on the network FDDC10

Urgent Help required
...m packages seem to be lagging so far behind on CentOS and RHEL since the sudden acquisition or hostile corporate takeover of Red Hat by IBM. Possibly a corporate labor-union work slowdown. IBM is too big, too blue, and too politically correct. Something is a little bit off. Too many echoes in the hallways. /Sorry for the rant. -- Sent from my Android device with K-9 Mail. The Origins of R
In another thread on this list, various wild allegations have been made, relating to the New York Times article on R. I object both to the subject line and to the content of several of the messages, and will not repeat or quote any of that content. It smacks to me of mischief making. Discussion has centered around the following quote from the NY Times article: ?According to them, the

New York Times - R - article a fraud?
I worked on some ad data before and I found NYT article very biaised and not far from a fraud... Anyone knows if they got money from a - company - to play 'R'? Check out the title: R U Ready for R? Seems to me this title was stolen from XLSolutions www.xlsolutions-corp.com and they never mentioned XLSolutions in the article! They mentioned commercial R....never mentioned

R process killed when allocating too large matrix (Mac OS X)
> Can you elaborate on "leads to R being killed"? You should tell to the killer not to do it again :). Hi Simon! Sure, but who do you tell it if you don't know the killer? This is all the killer left me with, the 'crime scene' if you like :-) > m <- matrix(0, 90000, 100000) Killed: 9 My colleague Wayne Oldford also tried it on his Mac machine and apparently the

printer giving Access Denied
I have 2 printer queues setup on my samba 3.0.6 NT4-style PDC. About a month ago, one of them stopped working due to an issue with CUPS. After restarting CUPS, printing to that share was giving Access Denied. From a windows box, I was able to add drivers and set default print settings as a domain administrator but I still couldn't print. I created a new printer share pointing at the same

[ADV] New book: The Accessible Web
Gentle Web Development Folk: Just in time for RailsConf, I''m happy to announce Jeremy Sydik''s book, "The Accessible Web", is now available in beta. This is particularly sweet as Jeremy and I first discussed this book in the hallways of last year''s conference. This book is all about making your website accessible web sites-- sites that can easily be used by folks who may have perceptual or cognitive difficulties. This isn''t just a question of being a good citizen, or of meeting the increasing demands of...

Using C++14 code in LLVM
I haven't been following C++14 closely, but from hallway conversations at work it seems like 17 is the bigger win in terms of features. Is it worth waiting for 17 instead? Or, as we will only get a subset of 14 features anyway, just instead take a subset of 17 features? My only worry with 14 is that it's always going to be code churn in terms of using the new features. If they are worth

R process killed when allocating too large matrix (Mac OS X)
Hi Simon, thanks for your quick reply. 1) ... so you can reproduce this? 2) Do you know a way how this can be 'foreseen'? We allocate larger matrices in the copula package depending on the user's input dimension. It would be good to tell her/him "Your dimension is quite large. Be aware of killers in your neighborhood"... before the killer attacks. Thanks & cheers,

Pulver's WiSIP with Linksys WAPs
I recently got a Pulver Innovations WiSIP wireless SIP phone to determine if we want to use them in our organization. Since the WiSIP phone arrived last week, I have had nothing but headaches. I do think I now have the problem narrowed down. I have spent a bulk of my time trying to get the WiSIP to work with a couple of Linksys WAP11 Version 2.2. I have met with no success in getting the WiSIP

stringsAsFactors
I think your idea to remove the warnings is excellent, and a good compromise. Characters already work fine in modeling functions except for the silly warning. It is interesting how often the defaults for a program reflect the data sets in use at the time the defaults were chosen. There are some such in my own survival package whose proper value is no longer as "obvious" as it was

R process killed when allocating too large matrix (Mac OS X)
Hi, Interesting "feature" in 10.11.4. I wonder if the process is killed before or after malloc() returns. If before, it seems very blunt: "You're asking too much and I don't like it so I kill you now". If after it doesn't look much better: "You're asking a lot and I don't like it but I give it to you anyway. I'll kill you quickly later". Why

adding printers from netlogon script
I don't know the final answer BUT if you have something simmilar to a cyber-cafe LAN (I mean, users use all the computers, and maybe some users come back to login with the same name) then you have to install a printer only once in a computer, loging as the administrator and installing drivers. Then what users will have to do is JUST add the printer without installing. I know that it's
