Friday Halloween Edition Oct 31 12 Noon EDT
Morning!
This may be the "day of the dead" in some regions, but we expect the
usual lively discussion today at 9AM PDT, 11 Central, 12 Noon EDT, 4PM
UK and Portugal, 5PM Paris, $deity-forsaken hour down under. This
Sunday, I believe the USA falls back to Standard time. Future VUC are
still at 12 Noon EST.

Glances for CentOS 8?
It seems that glances is not in EPEL for CentOS 8. Is that coming at some
point, or has it been deprecated in favor of some other tool?

Identifying US holidays
...days
and don't want to provide a list of
Package timeDate does almost what I need:
library(timeDate)
holidayNYSE(2008:2010)
holidayNYSE()
However, I don't need all the NYSE holidays (like Good Friday). Just
the major US holidays - New Years, MLK, Memorial Day, Independence
Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
Is there any way to identify major US holidays?
Thanks a lot!

password stuff
Greetings All:
I hope everyone had a fun Halloween weekend (I carved 4 big
pumpkins and gave out a bucket full of rubber eyeballs and stuff).
I'm hoping somebody can explain the password behavior I've been
seeing (and a couple of other things). Here's my setup:
An isolated LAN (most clients have modems for dialling out) with

...releases. Instead, packages are usually added
after maintainers get a request through bugzilla. This allows the
packager know that the software is needed and also to see if they have
time to support another branch.
I don't see the tool being deprecated in Fedora so it should be possible.
As a Halloween present I have added it to my temp repo:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/smooge/not-yet-in-epel8/packages/.
These packages are as is.

Mistake
I seem to have mistakenly sent an e-mail to you. Don't ask me how 'cause I do
not know. It was also sent to Jeremiah Mercks. The e-mail contains an
attachment of a photo of three boys dressed in halloween costumes.
It is not meant for any newsgroup so please delete it.
Sorry 'bout that.
Thanks

Winbind crash due to Kerberos broken implementation
Hello,
I am working on RHEL 3 update 4. The Kerberos version that comes with the OS
is 1.2.7. I have installed samba 3.0.14a and encountered multiple winbind
crashes.
I have done some debugging and found the cause, samba function
"ads_cleanup_expired_creds" calls Kerberos function krb5_cc_remove_cred (if
the ticket is expired), the Kerberos implementation holds a struct of

It's just the code that builds the string from the mode word. It looks like

It's definitely a spooky Halloween bug!

Win2003 ADS, wbinfo -u and -g almost works
I've been chasing this problem for several days. I have taken the
3.0.26a Fedora 7 SRPM from the Samba FTP site and rebuilt it on RedHat
EL5 and installed it. It runs, but it has exactly the same problem as
the original 3.0.23c version.
I can join the domain and 'wbinfo -t' returns OK.
However, 'wbinfo -g' returns only two groups then gives a failure
message and
